Wednesdays shave I used some of my favourite products today for a very pleasant shave. Razor - Pils Brush - Pilsson synthetic Lather - I Coloniali shaving soap Blade - Sputnik Aftershave - Nivea moisterising aftershave balm.
SHAVE OF THE DAY WEDNESDAY RAZOR: GILLETTE SUPERSPEED FLAIR TIP BLADE: RAINBOW STAINLESS (3RD SHAVE) BRUSH: OMEGA S SYNTHETIC SOAP: B&M ROSEMARY & PEPPERMINT POST: B&M COLOGNE RUSSE 3 pass shave this morning. The peppermint from the soap gave a nice light menthol like cooling sensation. Made a great lather like B&M is known for. The Rainbow blade seems like a mid grade blade, not the sharpest, but not total junk either. Finished the shave off with Cologne Russe which has a manly floral scent and has good longevity. Hope everyone had a great shave and a great day!
Switched to the Weber with Personna Lab today and I've been alternating the SOC with my Omega 10049. Something about boar brushes just goes right with soft Italian soaps.
I have to get up early in the morning, so here's my shave plan. Thursday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Astra day 4 Stirling Black Ice SS Lucky Tiger AS Cream Osage Rub AS Old Spice Cologne Rod's soaps are and always will be my favourites - gotta love that Black Ice. Ain't nothing wrong with the Lucky Tiger a/s cream or the Rubby Dubby Doo either, for that matter!
Thursday's Dove Men Face Wash Tabac Shaving Soap Jayaruh #27 Silver Tip Gillette Super Adjustable Astra Super Platinum CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Rose Petal WH Aqua Velva AS The Tabac Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #27 Silver Tip brush. Two passes with my Gillette Super Adjustable razor and an Astra Super Platinum blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Aqua Velva after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed... Nineteenth shave of No Variation NoVember.
Gillette TTO Black Tip 1951 (W-4) Brut Dominant scent from J. at HTGAM G+ Super-Max Blue Diamond Swedish Steel Maggard Razors soap Mango Sage Tea Brush* brush pictured for picture only. (Used cheap boar that didn't look well in picture )
How is the Lucky Tiger Disappearing Cream as an aftershave? I've been considering buying a jar...........
Having used it before, it's pretty cold (not Stirling Glacial cold) and conditioning. My issue is that my skin can't absorb balms efficiently 90% of the time, so I PIFed it.
A very nice cooling sensation and very soothing for dry or sensitive skin. A lot of moisturizing also.
Thursday Planned SOTD Razor: Dubl Duck Goldedge 5/8 Full Hollow Brush: Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic Bowl: Woodhead Medium Scuttle Pre Shave Scrub: RazoRock GLO Pre Shave Oil: AOS Lavender Shave Soap: Martin De Candre Fougère Post: Monster Alum Block Aftershave: B&M Fougère Classique Looking at the jar of MdC Fougère hard to believe I have used it 14 times already. Haven't even put a dent in this soap. Talk about excellent cost per shave!!

NOVember - NO Variation November 18 Razor - Feather SS AC Pain Stick Blade - (7) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Post - Cold Water, Alum, Nivea Well, this could be the day. After several days of good shaves and yesterday's excellent.....is this the day to pay with blood? I'm saying it's day 7 on the blade but it may be 8. I've honestly lost count with the day off I took, but it clearly wasn't hurting from yesterday so I'll use it. BoSFat is becoming so routine I almost forget it's supposed to be tricky. Just totally dialed in. Twelve days to go and I may have to make a variation and change brushes. We'll see if I can hold off. On to the shave. First pass was good. Trying to stop thinking about the blood sacrifice due. Settled in and got a good pass, no issues. Maybe not a perfect reduction but I feel like I'm backing off just a bit with angle. Lathered for the second pass and went XTG with some diagonal work. No cuts or misses but still not as close as some. Again, I notice myself backing off a bit with the aggression. Went for a third pass, mostly ATG on the face and WTG on the neck again. Got a DFS. Not my best but not my worst. I probably psyched myself out of a better shave but I'll take it. Another good day with no pain, though the alum was a bit hot. Most likely the extra pass caused that. Still, nothing horrible and another day's in the books.
Shave of the Day 30 Day Focus - Shave 5 Prep: hot shower, hot towel, Somerset's PSO Razor: 1959 Gillette 195 Adjustable Blade: Feather (1) Brush: Rubberset 400-4 Silvertip Badger Lather: The Strop Shoppe Barbershoppe with Tallow Shave (setting): 3 passes; WTG (7), XTG (7), ATG + Cleanup (3) Post: Alum, L'Occitane Cade ASB Continuing my focus on technique, I really focused on not drawing blood around my Adam's apple area on swirly part of neck. I achieved it! For the first time in a long while I didn't have even a drop of blood. I pressed a towel on my neck after rinsing and there was absolutely no blood. Feedback from the alum was good. I adjusted my direction of ATG pass while on the swirly part and it really helped. I hope I continue to develop good habits and muscle memory.
Man....I'm an Injector Shaver, born and raised....But! I believe the 40's style Super Speeds are one of the most under rated razors of all time....They were not always so, and they did win the Hearts and Whiskers of many Generations of Shavers....But today it's a crime at how little respect the first 2 generations of the Super Speed gets...These razors are perfect examples of superior build quality and are capable, with good technique and the right blade; in delivering the best of shaves possible on a daily basis... Todays Shave Prep: Hot Water Whisker Rinse....maybe 2 minutes Lather: Arko Stick Brush: Omega 10029 Baby Pro Razor: 1952 Gillette Steel Handle Black Tip Super Speed Blade: Perma-Sharp Super d2 Post: Kroger/Dickenson's Witch Hazel AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue and Clubman Vanilla Everytime I use this combo I'm surprised and shocked at how effortless and mild this shaves but how close and BBS the results are...I should know by now...
