It's not so much the blade gap but the exposure outside the top cap. I did a detailed write up on the 30 day thread. The short story is I got cut by the razor pretty good. It's been a long time since that has happened.

I decidedthat 12 days in a row with the same blade was enough. I was still giving nice shaves but I could feel a reduction in smoothness. Today I loaded a new Feather Professional blade and proceeded to get an extremely nice DFS two pass shave while removing the top of a scar. This blade is so sharp that I hardly felt it. Styptic powder wouldn't stop this one and I had to rely on tissue and pressure. Even with this little error, I was very happy with my shave and am really starting to like this razor. I suffered a Homer Simpson idiot attack and inadvertently originally posted this in last week's thread. Doh!! Thursday’s SOTD: Prep: Hot shower (of course) Soap: Stirling Executive Man Brush: Semogue 1438 Razor: A 1955 Super speed delivered via Santa Rufus from the Secret Santa Date Code PIF. Filled with a fresh Feather blade. AS: Cold Water Rinse, Which Hazel, followed by a dollop of Stirling Executive Man Aftershave Balm. As always, I can get a great lather from the Stirling soaps. Easily three pass, plus of great rich lather; not to mention the scent. This is the first shave with the Super speed as it Santa Rufus just dropped it on my doorstep Loaded with a Feather, I got a great three pass did a fourth jus for fun , irritation free shave. Yep, BBS to boot! Followed up with a rinse of cold water and witch hazel and finished with a healthy dose of the Stirling balm. Feeling clean, fresh and really blessed.
