I need someone to help me figure this out... I was browsing E-Bay France and came across this...

    Item# 230242033491
The description translates as Former Razor - White Steel - 14 cm long
Ok... for 20 bucks it looked like a nice restore opportunity to keep me busy. Got it in the mail about an hour ago.... it is the heaviest razor I have ever felt. It weighs more than my cat. It had layers of grime on it so I've been cleaning it ever since. I cannot make out the metal.. if I didn't know better, I'd guess sterling. It is very well made. The only markings are at the very base of the razor... C on H.M. The "on" has a line under it.
Anyone want to hazzard a guess as to the history or maker of this razor??

Give a shout when you get a clean look at it...Or do you already and that's the legible part..
If you can see more...I have a couple a books that I use. I looked and nothing like the puzzle you present us with up top :)

That's all there is Tom. It cleaned up really nicely too... you'd never have thought. This razor really is a puzzle.
All I can think is that the H.M. stands for Her Majesty and it's some sort of English blade. Just a stab.

That looks to be a pretty old blade in great shape.

Can you post a pic of the lettering you can see?
    On the tang, I guess.
I, sometimes, can make out much more if I use a magnifier or a powerful 30x magnifier...Any help there?

Nice restoration work!! It almost looks like a Wapienica now but the blade is too large for a Wapi

And any chance of a macro shot where the stamping is?
    It is nice!
