I need someone to help me figure this out... I was browsing E-Bay France and came across this... Item# 230242033491 The description translates as Former Razor - White Steel - 14 cm long Ok... for 20 bucks it looked like a nice restore opportunity to keep me busy. Got it in the mail about an hour ago.... it is the heaviest razor I have ever felt. It weighs more than my cat. It had layers of grime on it so I've been cleaning it ever since. I cannot make out the metal.. if I didn't know better, I'd guess sterling. It is very well made. The only markings are at the very base of the razor... C on H.M. The "on" has a line under it. Anyone want to hazzard a guess as to the history or maker of this razor??
Give a shout when you get a clean look at it...Or do you already and that's the legible part.. If you can see more...I have a couple a books that I use. I looked and nothing like the puzzle you present us with up top
That's all there is Tom. It cleaned up really nicely too... you'd never have thought. This razor really is a puzzle. All I can think is that the H.M. stands for Her Majesty and it's some sort of English blade. Just a stab.
That looks to be a pretty old blade in great shape. Can you post a pic of the lettering you can see? On the tang, I guess. I, sometimes, can make out much more if I use a magnifier or a powerful 30x magnifier...Any help there?
