Thanks Roger. Like you I find the stylish barber style handle my favorite to use. I see you reached for the same style for your SOTD.
I don't have a better name for it ^^" but I don't agree to call it a 77 prototype, as only the guard bars look similar, the rest of the razor is more similar to other models. What I would call a 77 protoype is this, (although, ok, it's only a part of) : It's from the Leresche factory owner's colllection
GOOD MORNING TSD 12/04/15 SOTD Razor- Gillette Atra Plus Blade- No Name Dollar Store Brand Lather-Neutrogena Brush-Badger Three Passes-Wtg,Xtg,Atg Post Shave-Cold Water Rinse, Witch Hazel Splash,Pinaud Clubman A/S So about two weeks ago My Son and I were in the Dollar General Store looking at after shave's ,bought Barbasol Pacific Rush for a $1.75, I looked at Their blade selection and saw Atra compatiable blades 6 for a $1.50 and thought why not I have an Atra at home. So this morning I thought why not give them a try,Did three passes with no tugging or pulling at all and ended up with darn near a BBS shave. So will I shave every day with it?,NO, I like my Vintage DE and SE razors too much, but if I need a quick touch up shave in the evening I might just use this set up. So all in all a great shave everything else I used is tried and true. HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!! (I forgot my brush in the pic)
Fougere Fatboy Friday Substandard shave today. While the lather was thick and creamy, and the razor felt mostly smooth, I got a few weepers and some razor burn. The Futur is more efficient and more comfortable for me. Perhaps the extra weight makes it easier to use no pressure. I used B&M Fougere Classique and Shea Moisture balm to put out the fire, which lingered for a while. Now I can confidently sell this Fatboy, despite it beauty and history. The Futur is just a better choice for me. Prep: PAA Ice Soap: B&M Fougere Imperiale (vegan) Brush: Brothers Bristles Spartan Bronze Razor: 1959 Fatboy 9-9-7 Blade: Voskhod (2) AS: B&M Fougere Classique, Shea Moisture Balm

An excellent shave with excellent products and darn it, I smell good too!
Any comments on the Gillette China razor? It appears to be a twin to the Sterling razor that Gillette makes for the Indian market and some think it is based on late versions of the Tech. The few comments I've seen about it and the Sterling have been *reallly* mixed, though.
I froze my face off with another one of my favourite soaps - the Frozen Tundra is not too, too far behind the Glacials in menthol power. It lathered beautifully with great slickness and blade glide as well as delivering perfect post-shave care. The Alt Innsbruck aftershave added its own ice-cold jolt. BBS with almost no effort!
5/8 J.S. Holler Stirling Port Au Prince homemade boar/SOC knot Another razor that deserves to see more use. Very nice shave this morning. Have a good one.
Friday SOTD for Dec 4th........... Musgo Real face lathered w/SOC Boar English Ball End Tech w/Wilkinson Sword blade Witch Hazel rinse finishing with Fine American Blend A/S 2-passes for a DFS! Very unique and interesting brush. I've never seen that model before...............
Schick J1 razor Personna blade RazoRock Plissoft brush St. James of London Mandarin & Patchouli SC Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe St. James of London Mandarin & Patchouli cologne Big fan of the Mandarin & Patchouli cologne, not so much of the SC. The lather looks good but does not provide me with the shave I want. Well at least with an injector razor. I"ll try it with a DE over the weekend and then decide what to do with it. No go enjoy your day folks
today's shave hot water wash with nuetrogena men's invigorating face wash and a washcloth @clint64 customized Rubberset 400/ whipped dog high mountain white BOMBED Proraso white Merkur 39c Astra sp(2) Proraso white balm today's shave was nice. the 400 feels great, Proraso is easy to lather. the hammer slices right through. very smooth and comfy. finished with the matching balm. hope y'all did as well, or better.
This Chinese Gillette is a good shaver. It gave a BBS with little effort. It has a nice design which makes the razor effective in cutting the beard. I have a similar tech razor and they have similar shaving behaviour. It's a light razor but not mild in shaving. If it had more weight especially on the top, it'd be much better. Quality of the razor is OK. It has a nice shiny nickel plating.
FRIDAY Vintage shave with a Swiss-made frame back razor. Route 66 'Bourbon Jungle' soap and Fine Snake Bite finish. Excellent shave! Have a great Friday, all!
Stirling Bay Rum Parker best badger R41 ('11) w/personna blue Cold water/alum Captain's Choice CoNT Rushed it a little today and paid the price with few small weepers. The CoNT really lived up to it's reputation today! Happy Friday every one!
