A millimeter wider is a big deal, who'd have thought it?

I guess the spring type in the I and above and the Floating Head can accommodate the greater tension better than the curved spring of the E and G heads. I'm going to have to go look at them now to understand why they are able to do that. With the F and H having springs that are top mounted, the bigger constraint might be if there is enough room behind the stops to accommodate them. Then again, no telling how adjusting to the thicker blade will affect their ability to hold less thick ones. Interesting stuff. Nice work Billy.

Tom, is there anyway you could design the comb to move in or out to adjust the exposure (instead of replacing the comb?) That's assuming I understand the design properly - which is a big assumption.

The one Millimetre ...

Here is the difference...The Twin Blade in the Centre is about a Millimetre Wider than both the Current Injector Blade on the Left & the Original Repeater blade on the right...The Twin blades are thicker than both tho....They are a lot thicker than the current blade & slightly thicker than the Original Repeater blade...The Repeater blade is slightly thicker than the Current blade...The Twin blades are a Snug Fit in the Repeater but offer more blade exposure...

I did notice that when I fitted the B 1 Type Repeater with the Twin Blade there was more blade exposure because the Twin Blades are Wider...Forgot to mention that one as it shaved very well...That will not damage anything though as there is no stops in the Repeater as long as you don't mind more blade exposure...I didn't find it to be too aggressive anyway...But some folks might I suppose...

As far as the Heads go in later Injectors...They are a different set up the earlier E & G Types...There is more Give & Take in these Heads because the Spring set up is totally different...In other words the later injectors are more pliable & malleable for sure and they are made of lighter materials...That's why they are fine with the Twin Blades...You know when you open up later Schick Injectors to load a blade...They open very easily and very wide compared to the earlier E & G Types..

I can shim the comb to lower it. That will achieve the same thing. Only thing is people tend to loose small things.

I have been trying to think of an easy way to make it an adjustable, without having to remove the comb. Nothing simple has come to mind yet.

I was wondering if raising and lowering would have the same effect. If so, maybe a sliding mechanism with a clamping lever to lock it into place? I have no idea as to the difficulty of such things so I am just talking out loud. And I'm guessing there'd be a need for some pre-defined stops to help people get a repeatable position that they like.

The difference in blade exposure can be seen clear in this pic I took some time ago...The one on the left is an early Type E 2 ..The one on the right is my Black Handled Canadian Type E 5 that has a full one Millimetre more of a blade exposure than the Type E 2...Now..You can see Why...This Canadian Type E is a Monster...It was the most Aggressive Type E that was ever made...

Here is the thing..The "Blade Gap is the same on the Vertical Plane"..That is to say "Up & Down"..The Blade exposure & Blade Gap is different on the Horizontal Plane..That is to say...Forward & Back..That's where your adjustment should be and that's not easy..An Adjustable injector is not an easy Feat..Shimming wont quite cut it on an Injector..

If I may jump in here, the Personna 74's are fantastic for me. Better than anything else out there and I can get at least 20-21 fine shaves out of each blade. Having said that, $40.00 is a big chunk of change and I, personally, would not spend that much.

Great info Billy. I'd hate to ruin a perfectly good E type especially something rare like my pre-Eversharp Schick E2 by using the improper blade.
I can find Canadian made Evarsharp-Schick E types somewhat easily but the pre types are hard to come by. They shave differently the pre-types is the most efficient injector (without being harsh) that I've ever tried. My M2 on max is still tamer.

+ 1 on that..I have x 3 Type E 3 Injectors ...Two of them are Canadian E 3s & One is a USA Made E 3...I find them to be identical in terms of how they shave...The funny thing is that the E 3 s are far milder than the early Type E 2s but I find them a bit Harsher...Doesn't Figure...The only thing that I can thing of is that the Type E 3s have a Ridged Comb & the Comb sits further forward to make it milder than the smooth Comb E 2s..

I have always reckoned that the Type E 3 & E 4s were slightly Mucked Up with the changes they made to the blade exposure to make them milder...I reckon its the Comb being too far forward as originally intended that causes it to be slightly harsher on the neck area & stuff...But Hey...Maybe that's just me talkin...

Thanks for the input. I think I'll pass on these based on both of your thoughts. I have used Feather Pro blades and enjoy them, but I also very much enjoy the Chicks and Personna Super Platinums. If I come across some at antique store for the right price I might give them a go some day. You could get 70 Chick blades from Jet.com at that price Thanks guys!

I keep on persevering with my beloved Pal Adjustable. I'm really hoping this will become my go to razor, but so far I have had a bit of a rocky journey. It seems that the combination of the curvature of the handle and the subtleness of the blade angle make for a very different feel while shaving. For me, the neck is especially difficult and I find myself going over the same area multiple times to get all the hair removed, resulting in some nasty irritation. No matter though. I will prevail I'll just make sure to keep my go to balm in supply while I do

What is your experience with other injector razors and how do they compare especially around the neck area ? I've tried and like many E series and adjustable M2. Also own a mild Schick L1 that is gentle for those with sensitive areas such as the neck.
Curious since I've never tried a PAL razor how they compare.

I have used a Schick G, I, J, L and Adjustable M with very similar performance. The G was my first and I am still in awe of how incredibly effortless it is to get a great shave with that razor with a Chick blade. The neck area is always a trouble spot for myself and most men and the Schicks with their lightweight and slim head make maneuvering in those areas easier. Also, the short handle of the G is very helpful in changing the angle of the blade while following the curves under the jaw bone. Something about the Pal makes it more of a challenge. Whether it is the handle shape/length, different blade angle, slightly bulkier head design or what I'm not sure. It definitely is, as Billy said, a "thinking man's razor."

I should add, I have very limited experience with all but the G of the injectors I mentioned.

The Pal Injecto-matic may be the best of both worlds for you, sporting a shorter handle. Hard to come by though.

That is what I was thinking too. I may pick one up sometime. I love injector razors, but sometimes I wish they where made of heavier duty materials. Of course that would mean a heavier razor so maybe that would defeat the purpose.
