  1. A lot of people find the shaving angle on the PAL Adjustable difficult to grasp...Its a smoother injector than the Injectomatic in actual fact...The Injectomatic is more intuitive to use however...A lighter than Light Touch with the PAL Adjustable and Just go by Feel..I have said this before..The "Cutting Angle is like a Shy girl" .."Look for the Shy Girl"..Look too hard though and "She will Hide from You"...:happy102:

  2. Most E2 are from the 40's and still look good today, I'd say that's HD in my books. I assume you mean weight ?
  3. Used the Schick Type N3 this morning - wow, love the handle on this one! Might just be the best handle on any Schick injector razor for me - long with a nice, heavy rubberized grip.
The shave went swimmingly and was just a pure pleasure this morning. I'm also continuing to use my Klar Kabinett which is just a fantastic soap and the New Forest brush had no problem whipping up an impressive lather.
Slapped on some Floid Blue and I was ready to face the world.

  4. I just shaved with my PAL Injecto-matic today, while we are on the subject....This one reminds me of my early E2 as far as efficient whisker removal....But also it's very smooth....The PAL feels like a very mild razor, almost like my "I" type, but the shave results are closer to my E2....

You can rip race around your face with reckless abandon....This Injecto-matic does inspire acts of heroism...lol!
I can't believe that an injector other than a Schick is fast becoming a favorite...

Now the early E2 feels to me like shaving with a str8.....Maybe a 'horizontal' straight....yeah, thats it!
But the PAL I'm non-stop checking to see if theres a blade in it, but the results are pretty BBS....even after one pass I'm pretty clean...It's not that much about beard reduction, ha,ha....It's more about beard removal, and fast!

PS....But I have to add....I'm in love with the PAL's user friendly way of doing things, and also these super BBSs with NO irritation.:happy108:....

But I also still dig the str8 feel of the E2, and also these super BBSs aswell...along with a few weepers here and there, lol...But hey, those tell-tale bits of toilet pager stuck to your face after a great shave is part of history too....:happy097:

    I'm glad I have both!

  5. I had my first shave this morning with the "500" and was not disappointed. This razor is a fine injector. I like the longer handle , it has nice balance and great feedback while shaving. I thought it was fairly mild but certainly effective after 2 passes my face was smooth and clean. One of the best injector razors I have if not the best IMHO. Just a sweet smooth shaver. Of course more tests are required....:happy005: image.jpeg
BTW my wife said I smelled good this morning so maybe the British Sterling is OK!:eatdrink013:

I'd say! When you get unsolicited fragrance compliments from the little lady....then whatever you used is definitely a keeper...:happy088:

  12. Glad you are enjoying the Injectomatic Bird! Sounds somewhat similar to my experience with the Schick G, but on steroids:happy088: You are definitely not helping my terrible case of injector rad.

Oops...I mucked that one up...Well spotted Bob...I have used a Canadian Type E 3 by mistake...Here it is sitting next to the Type E 2 ...So there is about a Half of a Millimetre of a difference Between the Black Handled Canadian Type E & the Type E 2 & a full one Millimetre between the it and the Canadian Type E 3..I must be going blind as well as senile...:happy097:

  17. Posted this in the SotD-Section as well ;)

thanks to @Red Rider who lent me two of his GEM Micromatics I've had my very first SE shave this morning :happy088: I chose the Bullet Tip for today, just to be on the safe side ...

    gem Kopie.jpg

    The setup:

    - Proraso white
    - WD High Mountain Badger
    - GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
    - GEM Stainless Steel Blade
    - Proraso white ASB

While the brush soaked in warm water I took a shower and then lathered up the Proraso. As usual, no problems with this soap, just a solid performer, very easy to handle.

When I first touched the GEM razors I immediately loved how they feel - solid, sturdy, well-made. But since I heard that the GEMs can be pretty aggressive, my first few strokes with the Bullet Tip were very cautious and delicate - though that wasn't really necessary. After a few seconds I gained more and more confidence as I realized that this is in fact a pretty mild razor. First pass WTG was actually one of the smoothest I have ever had with any of my razors (except maybe the Techs). Second Pass X/ATG was just a little bit more rough, but maybe that's because of my inexperience with this kind of razor.

In summary I can state that this was a fantastic shave. 2 passes and a little touchup work resulted in a part BBS, part DFS shave ... the DFS parts due to the fact that I did not manage to keep the perfect angle at all times. But I guess that will improve over the course of the next few shaves. I found the GEM very easy to handle and just a pleasure to use. Very different from my Mühle R89, it doesn't even sound like any other razor I own.

Tomorrow I'll test the OC :shocked003:

  20. I am completely with you on everything you said about the Gem Micromatics. I love how solid they feel and the way they feel as you shave. And the sound they make as they slice through the stubble is pretty incredible. Just picked up some Proraso white soap a few weeks back and have been pleasantly surprised with the performance:) So glad to hear you're enjoying the experience. After all, that's what it's all about:happy088:
