Most people with sensitive skin and heavy beards (like me) tend to get the best shaves from the sharpest DE blades (the list @youngunn posted is a good start) paired with milder razors.

Good shaving cream? I remember thinking, 'you've got the shaving cream and balm mixed up there.' You ought to be using the Real Shaving Co. 2X Moisturizing Shave Cream and Nivea's sensitive shave balm, not the other way around. :)

Fendrihan has Taylor of Old Bond Street and Prorazo, both of which are excellent. They also have a large selection of shave cream and other goodies.

ItalianBarber also has a wide selection of soaps and creams, and other stuff as well.

Both of those companies are based in Canada.

I need to jump in and welcome you aboard!! No matter what people like @wristwatchb say you can always trust my blade recommendations. Well, as long as I'm saying things like "Voskhod is great", "Rapiras are awesome". Beyond that you may need to check references. Seriously, glad to have you along for the ride!

Hi and welcome from western Canada. Lots of good advice so far. For me a sample blade pack was invaluable. What works for one doesnt for the next guy, especially with blades. I cannot use a Deby blade for instance and would have went back to carts if thats all was available...

Body Shop has a Maca Root shaving cream and AS balm that is great stuff and easy to get in Canada (pretty much any mall)

As far as balms go, I really enjoy Soap Commander's balm. Only a tiny amount is needed and there is a nice scent list to choose from. Arko also makes a nice balm that can be found for a cheap price, but I don't think it soothes the skin as well as the SC.
