Nothing wrong with wanting to be famous. If you think shaving is going to be the vehicle, you're a little out of touch. I myself however have a couple motorcycle videos with tens of views... If that.
"Now, here's what you do fellas. Rub that soap so hard it gets in your eyes, and then proceed to slice yourself up with your straight edge. It really isn't too difficult, fellas."
I'm a little tired of that southern fellow doing the Fine Aftershaves. For each one, he simply says...."Awesomesauce...buy it". (Or is it....Owesomesowce?). I like my Fine "ads" from members on here better.
I wear shirts while I shave in the winter. I live in AZ, so I don't like heaters. My house can get down around 60. I'm a head shaver, and that's a long time to stand around with water all over my head and face and no shirt on. To answer your first question, I think many of them just really enjoy both hobbies (shaving and video production / editing) and use this as an opportunity to combine and expand the hobbies. I don't think there are enough head shavers out there with videos. If I had the time and equipment, I might give it a shot.
Yeah, that makes sense. I know I liked making the motorcycle videos and would like to do more just because of the creative aspect. But at least with what I did, it was a ton of a lot of work too. I think I spent a couple days on the longest (too long) one.
It's all about passion that makes them want to make videos. Personally I like watching videos of people shaving, so I can observe what they're doing and how they're doing it.
Guys i like watching them also when it's someone that knows what they are doing and is qualified to pass on solid advice. I started DE shaving four to five months ago and I would feel less than qualified to make such a video. Some of the guys making these videos are down right cocky about it and are amateurs, others...well just plain funny!
That's the guy! I gues he's out of it which between him and The Shaving Evangelist makes two of my favorites retired.
I've seen him, I saw a review he did for a shave soap. I liked him, he seemed to be genuinely helpful.
There are some good ones but let's face it, we all love the really bad one's. There egos are always out to get them. Gonn have to look for that slice n dice one now.
I'm experimenting with a straight razor. I'm far from good at it. I watch a lot of videos on the subject to see different tricks guys use and to hear advice. I'm also watching videos about stropping.
There are a couple of guys on the tube that are very knowledgeable with straights and it really shows when they shave.
One reason might be you can make money from a good video channel on youtube. If you build a good following and people viewing your site click ads that are placed on your channel/videos you get paid per click.
