Dec 24 Shave 2.15 This only the second time I used this soap and I was waiting for warm weather to use it.. but... this months focus is creams and croaps so today's software is Razorock P160. Yup it smells like marzipan. I decided to destroy this croap with my Omega Pro 49 and quickly there was lather flying everywhere. Lot's of slick, wet lather and the four passes went very smoothly except for one small nick. I don't know if was the P.160 or the fact the razor was just refreshed on a pasted strop but an awesome shave. The alum only gave a slight twinge and BBS, smooth baby smooth. Thanks Charlie! I'm not sure which one of my razors is my favorite. I haven't been doing this long enough to really say. When I'm using one of my Super Speeds, I want to move on to the New LC because I miss the open comb and think it will give me a closer shave. I really like the New LC, but when I've been on that for awhile, I want to use the Old Type because I think perhaps it will give me a BBS with less effort. Then there is the Fat Boy that I still need to give more time to, and the Tech. So many good razors, so few shaves. I'm getting to the point where I want to change things up frequently, but still see the value of staying with one razor for a good stretch before swapping around. All my razors are vintage at this point, but I'm hoping Santa will bring me something special. Merry Christmas!

Straights to the Finish Line! December 23 Razor - W.B. Speed Rabbit Soap - TSD Lanolin Bay Rum Brush - Omega Pro 48 Post - Cold Water, Witch Hazel Seems like it's been forever since I posted. Busy day and a late evening shave to have time to work the Rabbit. Grabbed the big boy brush, the Pro 48 and the TSD Lanolin and got a great lather up. Again, one side at a time. Stropped the Rabbit prior so ready to go. The first pass was a bit more fluid as I seemed to find a few angles more easily as far as holding the razor. Kept the blade angle pretty steady and got a good result. Great audible feedback, still no blood on the first pass. Makes me think the first mistake is going to be HUGE! Hopefully that's just paranoia. Second pass I tried working a bit of XTG and had some better success. Reached CCS and called it good again. Let the muscles and memory set in for another day. Overall a good shave. I'm enjoying the process more everyday as my confidence builds. Witch hazel again didn't burn so I'm not scraping too much. Hope all your shopping is done with only one day left! Short day for me tomorrow and going to spend Friday doing absolutely nothing with my wife at my side.
I must say the Flare Tip has been an eye opener for me as far as technique goes. Mike's Hungarian Lavender is awesome!! If it's in stock don't hesitate to pick it up. Merry Christmas Charlie to you and your family! ps. I'm opening my sons Christmas present tomorrow evening, as he says.... Dad it's EPIC!!
So far, so good! I have the same plan for Friday also. We are simply having a family dinner on Thursday night, and then a nice three days of rest.
Busy day for me tomorrow with a Christmas eve lunch at my fiance's family. Lunch Christmas with her grandma and supper at my mom's that night. I should be glad its warm and raining here. Its usually a foot under snow with an underlay of ice. Moving tonight's shave to morning to be cleaner looking at the future in-laws.
The same to you. I'm baking cookies for all the stops and Santa now. I have to wait till the kids are in bed or my trays never seem to fill up. I'm about 6 dozen in with another 5 dozen to go. Big families eat lots of cookies. I have dark chocolate chip, Andes mint crumble, butterscotch, white chocolate, peanut butter, and Heath crumble.
Kerry, What most common/biggest problem with technique did you conquer? It seems like you've reached autopilot level.
Birthday Shave 12/24/2015 Razor – Gillette Super Speed (J4) Blade – Feather (1) Brush – DK7 with Druida Manchurian Lather – Jabonman Citricos Post - Witch Hazel & Fine L’Orange While I went with a 3 pass shave this morning, I did mix it up a bit going XTG, ATG & ATG. With just a few touch ups I ended up with a near BBS shave which is my normal work day goal. I finished up with a splash of Fine L'Orange and I am ready for the day. I want to wish a Merry Christmas to my fellow 30 DC participants. May you enjoy the time with your friends and family.
