Shiny "El Gordo" looks great. Congrats. I'm tempted to do something in rose gold soon. Liking the difference. Just not sure what to plate. Looking for a local plater since shipping and US exchange is a killer of late.
I had RE do my 54 Super Speed and 55 Red Tip in Rhodium. Amazing how shinny they are. Very happy with RE also.
They are plus I have a gold plated 54 Tech that RE did and they were able to maintain the original "Gillette" etching on the head. I'm currently working on prefecting my digital camera skills. I have an older Cannon that I'm having trouble getting close shots. I'm preparding for the day when I thin the herd of a few package razors that I had to buy to get my main prize. I may have to get a new camera but don't want to speed over 150.00. Any suggestions on a adequate camera to use mainly for razor photo's?
What kind of phone do you have? Every pic I take is either with an iPhone 6 or an iPad Air 2. They're both more than adequate.
Be gentle with me. I take enough guff from my kids about the fact that I have a trac phone - just a phone.
Sorry. I didn't mean or take it that way. Sometimes my tonuge and cheek comments are taken wrong. I've been strugglings with this tech stuff since the day of the VCR. Most people had kids to help work the farm. Me, little did I know that I was having them to later help me program things. Still looking for a camera.
I would like to hear about the process they take on the red tip. How do they preserve the red tip? Do they repaint it?
I had my D1 Red Tip done in rhodium by Razor Emporium. The markings on the head in the second pic is actually a reflection of the light fixture over the table. It's a mirror finish. As you can see the tip is painted with what appears to be a very hard acrylic (enamel?) paint. I can't recommend R.E. enough.
It's probably Krylon International Harvester Red. Said to be a perfect match for the original red tip paint.
Beautiful razor! RE really does some good work. Had an Executive whose adjustment mechanism was all gunked up and I could not get it moving. Sent it in for a tuneup, couple weeks later got it back with emails all along and it looks and works great!
Yes they do. I had my Red Tip done by R.E. several months ago. They also bake the paint in an oven. I know because they advised so prior to shipping it.
Looks great! I did mine at R.E. also. I marvel everytime I use it. It just sparkles under the bathroom lights.
