I believe the Milord is more of a "Ranger Tech" than a SS flare tip. The earlier 40's razors were almost always more aggressive than the later 60's razors from Gillette.
Enjoy as I'm on my own quest for a OC TTO since I have plenty of safety bar TTO razors.
Still have a few days left till 2016.

 

Not sure if I'm buying this. YMMV.

today's shave was ok. I felt I was doing top notch, with plenty of time. things preceded ok, but my results never materialized. I'm left with an ok( more than passable, less than normal) shave. can't win them all.
definitely hope y'all did as well, or better.

 

Looks like you might have a Mulcuto Razor of some sort.
I currently own one. Mild yet efficient shave.

 

Thanks, I'll look them up. There are no marks at all on the razor so I had no idea where to even begin looking for info on it.

 

If the brush works as good as it looks you'll have a winner for sure.

Post: Gillette cooling lotion

Had a nice 2 pass shave. The Cade made a nice thick lather. No irritation or nicks. Finally getting the technique down with this razor. Finished the shave with cooling lotion. Hope everyone has a great shave!

Personally I like my Bestshave brush better than my Shavemac silvertip brush. I'm actually not that fond of badger, so take that into account with the written below

Pros:

• Very soft tips
• Acceptable backbone but splays easily (I like that)
• Very cheap
• Great shape of the handle.
• Whips lather like it was paid to do it.

Cons:

• Takes long time to break in
• STINKS horribly the first many shaves
• QC differs vastly
• Looks very cheap.

What I mean with QC is, that you cannot buy two brushes that are the same. Some have lighter hue on the handle than the other, and one knot is more densely packed than the other and so forth. But despite the poor QC, especially on the handle, the shape of the handle suits me really fine. Also the "different" knots I've experience, I have liked them all. So to me it's not a lottery.

I'm convinced it's actually a boar brush, not horse. The tips split and acts like it's a boar. But horse or not, I really like it. It's creates lather very easily and once broken in, there's no smell and no scritch.

It's also so cheap that it's not one you really care for in use. I use it and abuse it. I don't care if it's hurt by it, as long as I get my perfect lather. The same goes for travel, should it spoil by mold or go missing no-one will cry for it.

The #6 is one of those I've filled my cabinet with so I'm sure I'll never run out in my lifetime.

That's why it's my go-to-brush.

I am, however, on the search for another go-to-brush. Mostly in vain... I like something that looks a bit better.. more class and luxury. I know... silly. But I think the #6 is one that everyone has to own and try. If not for daily use, at least to see that one does not need to spend a fortune to get exceptional soft tips and great performance.

Still experimenting with the newly acquired Fatboy and really enjoying it. I think "7" may be a bit too much for me (and this is from a guy who adores his '11 R41). The shave was reasonably good, but I wound up with a couple weepers and a slight bit of irritation under the chin. "5" was very pleasant, I'll dial down to "6" on the next blade change and see how that works. Maybe I already found the sweet spot for me at "5"... Overall, I think this is a marvelous shaver and can't quite understand why Gillette manufactured them for only four years...

The Fat Boy is an awesome shaver. I agree that 5-4 is my sweet setting. Anything more, especially 7-9 is too much for me.

 

Great review thanks. Being that it may be boar and I'm definitely wanting a horse hair brush to try. I think I'll go with the trusted horse hair brand Vie-Long brush.
As an upscale brush I' m currently leaning towards one of these after seeing and feeling it at a retail store.

Also like my FB. Found that I can go down WTG @7 without issue maintaining low pressure and proper uniform angles but all other directions are best 5-4 also.
