  1. Shave of the Day

    Monday, 29 Jan

    Prep: Hot shower
Razor: Gillette New LC Ball End
    Blade: Feather (2)
    Brush: Rubberset 400-4 Silvertip Badger
    Lather: RazoRock XXX
Shave: Hot shave, face lather, 4 passes; WTG, XTG, RXTG, ATG
    Post: Alum, L'Occitane Cade balm

First ever shave with RR XXX, and what a great soap. I found it easy to get a thick lather while face lathering, and had enough for 4 passes plus a back of neck pass. The scent reminds me of something, something i have smelled before but can't place, but I really like it. Super happy I grabbed it for half off regular price.

DFS+ shave. No blood, no nicks.

  4. Came down with a cold, and am not interested in holding a blade to my skin during coughing or sneezing fits. No shave today.
  5. Feel better buddy, take two doses of vitamin C a day for the remainder it will cut it way short. :happy088:
  6. Get better soon! I just got over a cold.

    December 29, 2015
Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost
    Razor: Maggard MR22/V3A Head
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue
    Lather: Caties Bubbles Ocean Grove
    Brush: RazoRock Plissoft
Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate
    Aftershave: Folsom & Co. Capri
New razor head and soap. CB always performs great! Ocean Grove is a fruit and floral scent, really nice summer soap. Maggard V3A (aggressive) head. This head lives up to its billing, I could feel the blade on my face but it wasn't uncomfortable. 3 pass DFS. The finish is in gunmetal and it was pretty good. I'd say this head is in between an R41 and a Fatip on the aggressive scale.

  8. The gunmetal head really pops with that handle Kerry. It looks :signs021:!
  9. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR is all I can definitely say - this Polar Vortex soap feels like northern Canada in the dead of winter and does it ever lather up rich and thick. The Bergamot Vetiver aftershave from Henri et Victoria kept that freeze going for me. It's snowing like crazy right now and I have nowhere to go. BBS in two effortless, frigid passes! :happy088: :happy088:

BBS THIS MORNING WITH THREE PASSES. MY BULLGOOSE BLACK BEAUTY RAZOR ARRIVED YESTERDAY IN RECORD TIME. THE HEAD TURNED OUT TO BE A REAL P.O.S. BUT THE HANDLE IS VERY WELL MADE, GRIPPIE AND STURDY. I PAIRED IT WITH A MERKUR HEAD I HAD PREVIOUSLY PURCHASED ON THE BAY MODEL UNKNOWN BUT IT'S AGGRESSIVE WHICH I LIKE. THIS COMBO FEELS WELL BALANCED AND PROVIDED A VERY SMOOTH SUPER CLOSE SHAVE. THE STERLING MITA PROVIDED EXCEPTIONAL CUSHIONING AND SLICKNESS WHILE THE FREEZE NO DOUBT CONTRIBUTED TO THE COMFORT ON THIS CLOSE SHAVE. MUG LOADED AND FACE LATHERED WITH MY @Jayaruh #12. HAVE A GREAT SHAVE AND A GREAT DAY. :)

  13. Revolutionary
Today was my first shave with Barrister & Mann’s new glissant soap formula, and it was a revelation. The soap is somehow even slicker and more protecting than the usual B&M, making this the best performing soap I’ve ever used… yes, this has surpassed my beloved Tabac! This was an easy and drama free BBS in three passes with my Futur set on 5.5
My nose is a little stuffy, so the scent was not a major factor today, I’m sure I will be able to appreciate it more once I’m breathing easier. I finished with Lavanille tonique and I feel and smell amazing.
I hope they eventually convert all their soaps to this new formula, as it sets B&M above all others for me.

    Prep: PAA Ice
    Soap: B&M Fireside
    Brush: Brothers Bristles Spartan Bronze
    Razor: der Futur
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
    AS: B&M Lavanille

  14. Gem G-Bar razor
    Gem Blue Star/Stainless PTFE blade
Shave Revolution "The Bourbon Room" SS
    Shave Revolution Evolution synthetic brush
    Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe
    CO Bigelow 1585 cologne

The Blue Star blades are a love/hate thing with me. I want to love them but they hate me in most SE razors. Started the shave with the Blue Star but it just didn't work so switched to the Stainless and ended up DFS. Tried the new (to me) Shave Revolution products as well. The SS smells wonderful and lathers easily. The brush is fantastic! The soap may have caused a little irritation but then it could have been the Blue Star blade. Will try them again later. Now go enjoy your day folks

back to the grind, Tuesday. the new brush looks nice, performed ok, and smelled like wet dog. the lather was nice though. three passes with the Romer7, pretty nice on mild/ aggressive. ok to look at, only glitch, it seems a touch different from one side to the other. but I ended with a very nice shave. finished with spice.
hope y'all did as well, or better. 20151229_091000.jpg
