What do you mean? That wasn't enabling. This is enabling:

If you want to try SR shaving, but don't want to pay for a strop and razor to find out if you will like it or not, let me now. I would be happy to loan you a set for a month.

You are on the right track with the weight of the razor. It's a big heavy thing for sure. Like you suggested just let the weight of the razor do the work. I've also found that ATG passes work better for me with my grip on the handle closer to the head. It seems to help remove the urge to add pressure.

First shave with my Phoenix DOC loaded with the Lord Platinum Class. 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Very good reduction. Pass 2: ATG. Very good reduction also, followed by my normal amount of touch up. A cool water rinse and after a lot of touch up, I realized I just wasn't going to catch the baby today. The Pinaud Clubman stung, but not as much as it did last week. I had enough lather left over for at least a couple of passes.

A nice comfortable near BBS from the Phoenix DOC and the Lord Platinum Class. Both passes were very smooth, provided very good reduction and gave me a DFS. Today's shave was much more audible than I can remember hearing before. Now I know what you've been talking about. While my main passes seem to be very close and comfortable, for some reason I still haven't been able to catch the baby. I’ll give it another go tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Glad it worked out for you. The angle will become second nature shortly but if it starts to go astray you can always use the technique described to get back on track quickly.

That is very generous of you :) :happy088: I appreciate it, though it might lower my resistance even more.

I have some other stuff to try for the next few months but I might actually get back to you on that someday...

Thanks I'm sure it will I'm going to continue with this technique longer than I need to, it's time consuming but it works and doesn't cut me to bits once again thanks for great advice

Shave 2 of the focus and already learned that Shark SS blades are not the ones for this razor. Astra SP was much better, although this razor feels harsher than my Weber or Gillette New. However, 2 passes leaves me with near BBS and that feels good.

    Mongoose razor
    Feather Pro blade
    Muhle black synthetic brush
    Mé Tramonlana shaving soap
    Lea aftershave lotion
    Agua Brava EdC

    Day 2 shave:
First off, my face is still nearly DFS smooth from yesterday. I managed a near perfect BBS yesterday, other than a small irritated spot directly under my chin caused by ATG pass. Today was the first time using a synthetic brush with Mé soaps, which can be a bugger to lather properly (fussy with water). Surprisingly the synthetic held its own and churned out a thick and slick lather (bowl lathered). I cant remember how many uses on the blade but Im guessing today was the fourth or fifth. Regardless it was still feeling sharp enough for 2 wtg passes and a partial xtg pass. I didnt push it today like I did yesterday but still ended up with a great shave. The Mongoose with the Dr Big Bomber handle is freaking heavy though and tiring to hold...a titanium handle is more a neccessity than a luxery. The post shave care was fantastic with Lea and Puig working nicely together.

Im now ready for some football...

    Razor: iKon B1 Standard
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue
    Lather: MdC
    Brush: Oscar11 28mm Silvertip
Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate
    Aftershave: Royall Vetiver
Fantastic shave! The iKon B1 Standard baseplate is smooth and very efficient. I mean very efficient.. I love the way it looks with the B1 handle. MdC as always is top notch. My Oscar11 is the best. It's so good I've put a couple brushes away for another time. Royall Vetiver? I think it's an acquired product, I need a couple more uses before I can get a feel for it. The iKon B1 rocks!! Thanks Guy!!
