Straights Focus January 6: Homemade PS Oil VDH Boar Brush Stirling San Antonio SS Ontario Cutlery Co. Stirling Unscented PSB Aqua Velva Musk I had another good shave this morning. I think I am finding that my date can take more passes/touch up with a straight than with the DE. I spent a little time touching up this morning, to the point that I would have had a lot of irritation with a DE, but I had very little this morning. Now, if my technique were a bit better, I wouldn't need to touch up so much, but that it a different discussion.
I am not using straights (yet - give it some time) but I'm agreeing with this statement. I feel like I could clean-up my jaw line five or six times and still have stubble to cut. It's getting better each day though and I'm learning to let you of a little leftover hair to save on time as well as any irritation that could result from too much shaving. My neck and jaw line need a little extra attention in my shaves so far. I know it will get better with time and better technique. My technique IS improving - I am light years ahead of where I was just two weeks ago.
That's exactly what I did on my Feather AC focus month. By the end of the month I was not even picking up the DE. Take your time, it will happen.
My father-in-law shaves without cream or soap or water. I don't know how he does it. It makes me cringe. My grandfather was similar - I don't think he used any soap or cream, but he used water. Of course he was telling me about this when he was in his late 80s.
