  3. Hello everyone!

Yesterday my new (used) razor arrived, so first Futur shave ever for me:

    P1040546 Kopie.jpeg

    - Razorock Mudder Focker
    - Whipped Dog High Mountain Badger
    - Merkur Futur
    - Polsilver SI (#3)
    - Tüff sensitiv Rasierwasser

Guys, this Futur could be a game changer for me. The shave today was just a test run since I never used this razor before - but it was one of the closest and most comfortable shaves I have had so far.

The Futur is heavy and has a bulky head, but at the same time the overall weight distribution is very good, which makes shaving easy and comfortable. The last razor I used was the Phoenix DOC which weighs 55 grams. For this one the kitchen scale showed a whopping 124 grams. The chrome finish is just beautiful, it feels smooth but not slippery. And usually I prefer shorter handles, but because of the unusual shape I really like the Futur's longer one. In comparison to the Merkur Progress the workmanship is far and away superior, as is the handling, since the Progress is pretty top-heavy. I can see why some people might find it difficult to shave under their nose with this relatively huge head - but since I don't shave there, it's a non-issue for me.

My to-go soap and blade for testing new razors are the Polsilver SI and the Mudder Focker - both excellent performers in their respective realm. And of course they did not disappoint today.

I started on the very low setting of 1.5 because I read some comments about the Futur's aggressiveness. But it wasn't aggressive at all. At this setting it shaves pretty much like the 34c, which I also like very much. What really set this first pass apart from anything else is the audible feedback. This razor sounds like no other DE I have used so far - just amazing.

For the next passes X and ATG I set the Futur to 2.5 - which was still pretty mild. I would not call this razor aggressive, it is just very efficient. It cuts the facial hair effortlessly and at the same time the blade feedback is direct and very pleasant.

I finished with a cold water rinse and expected quite a bit of reaction to the Aftershave - but the Tüff just burned for a fraction of a second on some small areas of my neck.

The result: a true BBS shave that I wasn't even trying to achieve. A+ for closeness and irritation. Amazing.

I'll definitely need some more shaves with this beauty, but I already see myself selling or PIFing quite a few of my other razors.
  4. I'm really excited about how my new Omega 49 brush is breaking in - it whipped me up some fabulous lather from the Edwin Jagger Menthol cream, which gave me a nice cooling effect and great blade glide. The Shambala aftershave smells heavenly and it made the end of this terrific shave a delight! :happy088: :happy088:
  5. I just had my very first shave with the Futur - what a great razor :happy088:

GOOD MORNING GUYS. TODAY WAS MY FIRST DAY WITH THE MERKUR 15C AND AN OPEN COMB PERIOD. THE FIRST THING I NOTICED WAS, CONTACT. I REALLY FEEL IT ON MY FACE BUT NOT IN A BAD WAY JUST DIFFERENT. THE NEXT THING I NOTICED WAS AN ODD ALMOST SUCTION EFFECT AS I WAS PERFORMING MY SWIPES. FINALLY HOW EASY IT IS TO MANEUVER. IT'S THIN HEAD PROVIDES EASY REACH FOR AREAS UNDER THE NOSE AND JAWLINE. THE BALANCE IS OUTSTANDING AND I VERY QUICKLY FELT CONFIDENT WITH THIS RAZOR. SO MUCH SO THAT I DECIDE TO ATTACK MY CHIN AREA AND UNDER THE JAWLINE WITH SOME BLADE BUFFING. HERE IS WHERE THIS RAZOR EXCELLED FOR ME. IT'S FANTASTIC FOR BLADE BUFFING, IT'S A MILD RAZOR BUT I'M CALLING IT EFFICIENT BECAUSE THE EASE OF BLADE BUFFING ALLOWED ME TO KNOCK THOSE AREAS OUT OF THE WAY STRAIGHT AWAY FOR A THREE PASS BBS. CONCLUSION: I LOVE THIS RAZOR. THE ROUTE 66 LUMBERJACK DELIVERED VOLUMES OF BEAUTIFULLY SCENTED LATHER FOR A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. HAVE A GREAT DAY AND A GREAT SHAVE. :)

  14. today
hot water wash with nuetrogena men's invigorating face wash and a washcloth
    Le Figaro boar
    Pyrate cove coconut soap
    Matador closed comb/elegante handle
    Gillette silver blue(1)
    Pinaud Lime SEC
today's shave was nice. the new to me brush performed nicely, not as luxurious as a badger, but a good boar brush. I switched the Matador handles. the shorter, fatter handle was preferable to me. the closed comb felt more aggressive than the open comb. three passes, very close and ok comfy. finished by putting the lime in the coconut and mixing it all up.
hope y'all did as well, or better.

  19. Glad to hear of another Futur lover. Although I haven't used mine lately, I always got a great shave with it. Ive never used mine above 3.5 though as the blade gap gets scary big at some point near there. At the lower limits, you are correct in your assessment of a mild but efficient razor. Just be careful if you set it on 6.......:D
