1. Maybe if you chucked menthol in them, your opinion might change???

  2. No, not a chance!
  3. Personal non-starter scents:

Canoe - smells like the bottom of one after water's been sitting in it for a month, to my nose
Grey Flannel - yes, if I were to wear grey flannel pajamas for a few days without bathing, that's approximately what I'd expect for a scent
Vanilla - anything with a strong vanilla component smells sour on my skin
Patchouli - flashbacks from my days working retail around particular customers who LOVED patchouli make it a no-go for me
  4. And I used to think we could be friends...

Patchouli. Smells like hippies. I hate hippies.

  5. Off putting to me:
Pinaud Clubman - get bouts of nausea wearing it
    Royal Copenhagen - meh
Cuba Gold - hated it initally but will try it again today....likely to reafirm hating it.

  6. The Veg is the first one that comes to mind, but some other ones I don't care for are:

    Fahrenheit
    Lucky Tiger Aspen
    Grey Flannel
    Lagerfield

I tend to like most scents, even ones most people don't care for, but there are certain notes in these ones that give me a headache.

  8. I cannot bare the scent of Ogallala Bay Rum I find it as a overpowering scent note of cloves, another scent I'm not a fan of is Tabac.

  9. Bay Rum it doesn't even matter who made it, keep it away from me!

  10. I haven't come across any scents I don't like. The ones I would nominate for a hall of fame are

Nivea - a good everyday scent and the sensitive balm is always good on a bad shave day.

    Clubman Special Reserve.

I like old spice and Aqua Velva. Classic scents that have stood the test of time. If I could afford it I think Trumpers scents would make it. My barber has samples that I try at each visit and Trumpers scents are my favourites.

  11. I can't seem to tolerate Bay Rum despite how popular it is. Cloves and cinnamon just don't agree with my nose.
Others I can't bear include Aqua Velva (blue) and Skin Bracer (original).
  12. Is the Veg so (unanimously) bad that I ought to order a sample just to know how the word 'horrid' translates into smell? Or is it a love or hate?
crackstar, Slow Joe and Jim99 like this.
  13. love/hate
It smells like lilacs. By all means, get a sample.

  14. There happens to be a hung jury on the verdict on the Veg. I vote not guilty:) SWMBO even likes it.
  15. Veg
    Clubman
    Pinaud VIBR
    Master BR
current Wild Country...all current Avons for that matter (vintage is another story)

Used to not care for Skin Bracer but have begun developing a taste and/or immunity. Prefer AV knockoffs rather than AV itself (except for AV Musk, which is nice).

I remember trying Drakkar in the late '80s and recall it resembled cat urine; have occasionally encountered it since -- same.

Imagine a 50/50 mix of Drakkar and Veg. How much would it take for you to wear it out in public?
    entropy1049 and Jim99 like this.
  16. Wow. Haven't smelled that in a while. Every man who was alive in the '80's wore Drakkar. Male babies wore Drakkar in the '80's. I remember them doing it.

I actually liked it, at the time. Then again, I had some teal tank-tops.

  17. Nah, real men likes it :)
I use it almost exclusively as a body splash these days

  18. My wife has a lilac-scented perfume which I love on her, but this Lilac Vegetal revolts me. My tolerance for it is zero.
