Almost used up all my samples of this quality tallow soap.
I am considering more, but can't decide which of the six scents I tried.
The Whipped Dog still gets it, but I like finishing with the FatBoy.
Late evening shave, so I Veg'd it up, because I like it.

Day #5 of the seven day exploration: Figaro shaving cream (by Tcheon Fung Sing)

    : hot shower
Music: Mike Oldfield, Music Of The Spheres
    Brush: vintage DVH boar
    Soap: Figaro shaving cream
Razor: Gillette Slim (birth quarter) @9

    Shave: 3-pass
Post: DVH alum, hand strop blade & reload upside-down

    SoS 2016-01-10 a.jpg

    The soap:
It is softer to the touch than Cella, but with a stronger almond scent. Even stronger and more 'synthetic' scent than the TFS barbe rosse. It is about as soft as the TFS barbe rosse.

    Ingredients:
    • Stearic acid
    • Aqua
    • Cocos nucifera oil
    • Potassium hydroxide
    • Sodium hydroxide
    • Parfum
    • Potassium carbonate

    Lathering:
The brush loads quickly and forms lather as quickly as Cella and is nice and slick.

    SoS 2016-01-10 b.jpg

    Shave:
The slick lather has a nice cushioning effect. No slickness remains after the pass.

    After the shave:
The alum stings today as well. The scent dissipated quickly.

    Overall verdict:
This is a great soap of good quality which lathers easily. At € 6.25 the price is about the same as Cella.

    Shave result:
    DFS++. :)

    Have a blessed Sunday, ya'll!
  8. @Hodge Interesting vintage blade choice. Did they spoil you, any good ?

No shave this morning due to yesterdays late afternoon touch up shave.:eatdrink013:

    HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!:)
  11. Saturn's Day: Day 4 of my second blade tryouts

    Prep:
Hot Shower, Nivea Moisturizing Face Wash
    Brush: @Jayaruh #33 Horsehair
    Lather: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (1, 2, 3)
Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Pinaud Clubman aftershave splash
    Cologne: Xeryus by Givenchy

The #33 did the best it could with what remained of my puck of GG Coffee Jasmine, using up the last of the viable soap to produce decent, if not great, lather, due almost assuredly to the puck being such a tiny donut at this point. It was its last use. The GSB was notably smoother in the RAKE than the Schick-Premium was, making comfortable passes that reminded me quite a lot of the Dorco-301, which I list as one of the better blades for me. Three comfortable passes got me DFS+ results. There was no bloodshed or irritation, but my face feels slightly more sensitive than it does with, for example, a Bic blade.
  12. Wowzer, this new Omega 49 brush is awesome - it whipped up a mountain of intensely-cold black liquorice-scented lather from the Glacial Obsidian soap. Two passes resulted in a great BBS shave and the Snake Bite aftershave gave me an additional freeze which almost left me disoriented! :happy088: :happy088:

  13. Sundays shave.

A nice relaxing shave. I discovered that Personna lab blues pair very well with the slim, and I Coloniali works really well with cool water.

    Razor - Gillette Slim
    Blade - Personna lab blues
    Brush - Pilsson synthetic
    Lather - I Coloniali

  14. SUNDAY
    Early morning shave
My second shave using this fine Japanese Western-style Hi-Diamond 8000. A few laps on the Tony Miller strop first yielded another super-smooth shave. Three-pass near-bBS result. Love the 'Sweeney Todd' lather. Chilly finish from the Snake Bite. All & all, another enjoyable shaving experience!
    Have a blessed Sunday, all!

  18. Looking at all of your incredible SOTD's has motivated me to get up and take a shower in a bit and go for a nice relaxing Sunday morning shave. Thank you all for such inspirational pictures, write-ups about your shave.
On a side note:::: The Blackland Blackbird looks great! I'm loving the Pils razor! And One Blade!!! Wow! Oh, and the aluminum goose. Soap galore!
