Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost
Razor: Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed 1959 E1
    Blade: Ladas
    Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush: Oscar11 28mm Silvertip
Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate
    Aftershave: BRUT ATTITUDE
Really nice hot shower and great shave. Much needed. The Flare Tip is such a smooth razor to use, effortless DFS. I soaked my MWF last night as it was in desperate need of hydration, came right back to life. 20 swirls with the Silvertip and I was ready to go. Brut Attitude. My wife picked this up at the dollar store some time ago, had she paid $1.01 it may have been a bit much. One cool thing it is in a glass bottle, tomorrow I'll try the red one..
I shaved my head, I wasn't planning on doing it but wanted to try my new Gillette Guard razor. Needless to say I should have went with the plan and not shaved my head, it's on fire!! Cold water, alum, witch hazel and gold bond have not stopped the burning. I had to finish my head shave with my Flare Tip.

  3. Glad to see you back with full write ups! I've not yet had the pleasure of razor burn on my scalp, and it doesn't sound good! Are your ribs calming down yet, or is it ok to try to make you laugh all day?

  4. Reminds me of a joke I heard growing up in the South.

"My Daddy tried to milk a bull.....

    he's dead now...."

  5. I did 30 on green, 20 on red and then 25 on leather. It helped my edge a bunch.

  7. Thanks, if anyone does ask just tell them about today's shave, it is the definition of bbs.

  8. The first one I did was my Union Cutlery Co. It had some spots that wouldn't polish or buff out. Plan on a lot more time than you are thinking, and 400- 4000 grit wet dry paper. And a mess. It's fun to bring something back that looked too far gone.
  9. 2nd day of 30 day.
No irritating redness or bumps but still some hair after two passes. It's an improvement but wanted to touch up so bad.. But resisted the urge to.

  10. You did the right thing in resisting the touch ups. Great news on not getting any redness or irritation. This is a new skill and it just takes a little time.

  11. Definitely smart to resist the urge. I have made that mistake once or twice and really suffered because of it. You are making some good progress, just keep focusing on your angles and pressure (or no pressure) and it will come together for you.

  12. Well, it looks like I won't have to worry about it for a while after all. All the blades had some chips, so I passed. I did find a Hull Pottery Old Spice mug, though, so it wasn't a total waste.

  13. Steep would be with the handle closer to your face, so the blade is almost at a 90 degree angle to your face. One technique I use to get a shallow angle is to put the top of the razor against my face, handle pointing straight out. Next I tip the razor just to the point you feel the blade touch skin. Then try to keep that angle during your shave.

  14. I understand your urge to get every hair. I have to remind myself most days to let it go after usually one pass with touch-up. The shave is certainly not BBS or probably DFS but it's acceptable and avoids irritation from over-working the skin.

  15. Right after I posted this I had to lay down because my ribs were aching, I'm not sure what hurt more my ribs or the back of my head.
The problem is the minute I start to feel a little bit better I cough really hard or twist wrong, and wham! Darn near brings me to tears. Yeah my head is on FIRE!
    Thanks, Chris!! :)
