Time to kick off a new week! Menthol Monday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/new Astra OSP Grapefruit Menthol SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Osage Rub AS Fahrenheit EdT Not quite the intensely-frigid shave I'd normally get on a Menthol Monday but still pretty darned cold. This OSP Grapefruit Menthol soap has such a delightful scent with tons of wonderful lather, and a HELL of an icy blast as well as brilliant skincare. I'll be using my old reliable Turkish barbershop brush to get it going and a new Astra, which is a great blade. The Gold Bond/Rubby Dubby Doo combination is awesome!
Monday's Dove Men Face Wash Tabac Jayaruh #32 horse Gillette Black Tip Personna CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Cucumber WH Pinaud Vegetal The Tabac Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #32 horse hair brush. Two passes with my Gillette Black Tip razor and a Personna Stainless blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Cucumber WH and then Pinaud Vegetal after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Monday! Day #6 of the seven day exploration: Sapone da Barba Vegetale alla Mandorla by La Saponieria Artigiana Prep: hot shower Music: Glenn Gould, Goldberg Variations Brush: vintage DVH boar Soap: Sapone da Barba Vegetale alla Mandorla by La Saponieria Artigiana Razor: Gillette Slim (birth quarter) @9 Blade: Schick platinum blade Shave: 3-pass Post: DVH alum, hand strop blade & reload upside-down (I pressed the soap brick in an empty glass jar I found in the kitchen) The soap: It is a bit harder to the touch than Cella and has a slightly stronger almond scent. Ingredients: Aqua Potassium stearate Potassium palmitate potassium palmate Potassium cocoate parfum Elaeis giuneensis Cocos nucifera Lathering: The brush loads quickly and forms lather as quickly as Cella and is nicely soft and slick. Shave: The slick lather has a nice cushioning effect. After the pass some slickness remains. After the shave: The alum really stings today. I guess that's the blade, which was tugging a bit and which needs replacement. The scent dissipated quickly. Overall verdict: This is an excellent veggie soap of good quality which lathers easily. The price is about the same as Cella. Shave result: DFS++. Have a great week, ya'll!
Good Morning fellow Shave Denizens! Today's SOTD as follows; Early 1930's Rotbart Mond Extra short comb Raised Flat Bottom razor. Polsilver Super Iridium blade. Omega Travel brush (Boar). Cella shaving soap. Captains Choice Sandalwood AS Splash. Bulgari Extreme cologne. This old German razor is among my favorites. It is very smooth and efficient. It always gives me a two pass BBS. And like now, usually no nicks cuts or weepers. It was replated in Rhodium right before I bought it from a seller in California called OCRazorman. He does fantastic work. I hope he's doing well, because I haven't seen any of his listings for a year now. Anyway, here's the photo- Have a great Monday people!

SOTD January 11, 2016 Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost Razor: Gillette Aristocrat Junior #49 Blade: Personna Lab Blue Lather: Route 66-Retro Spice Brush: Oscar11 28mm Silvertip Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate Aftershave: Brut Dominant Fantastic shave. I'm what I'd call a Bobcat kind of lather-er, 20 swirls and done. Ready to go. If I need to work a soap much longer it's not worth it, for me. Route66 is incredible and so easy to use, If you don't have at least one jar on Route 66 in your rotation get one. Today. Excellent customer service. Excellent ingredients. Excellent soap. Excellent skincare. You get the idea. I noticed this morning that my British made Gillette Aristocrat TTO seemed to work smoother than the American version, so I picked up my British Rocket and the same thing was true. They seem better built, a tad more aggressive and smoother. Just an observation. Day 2 of Brut.. Dominant was a tad bit better than Attitude, I'll try a generic version of the original Brut tomorrow. Macho! Never let the things you WANT Make you forget the things you HAVE!
