I just received a shavemac 24mm, 2-band silvertip knot that I plan to install in a handle that arrived from Bob Quinn just before Christmas. When I purchased the composite handle I also bought a similar style Desert Ironwood handle and had Bob install his standard, WSP 24mm 2-band silvertip knot. The WSP knot is set at a loft of 48mm, and I plan to set the shavemac at 50mm. I've attached a side by side photo of both below for a visual comparison of the two knots.
This particular handle was custom, but I see that there are several similar brushes (but different color resin) currently in stock on the Elite Razor website: http://www.eliterazor.com/product-category/shaving-brushes/wood-brushes/ Bob is happy to make something custom for you if you don't see exactly what you like. I highly recommend his work. The craftsmanship is outstanding.
My most recent haul Gillette fatboy -- my go to razor, on 5 shaves as close as my ikon tech doesn't last as long but no irritation Gillette slim -- nice but not as nice as the fatboy WSP high mountain -- great little brush, 23 mm knot but a small handle, very dense, super soft lathers great Martin de cadre soap -- nice great lather, not better than tcheon fung sing though, I've heard it last a long time, not disappointed for buying it I will enjoy for a long time
This is my down time, in a month I will be busy until July breeding cows and transferring embryos. After that and having my son every summer I'm on vacation with the wife, then start back to ultra sounding cows until December. My life in a sentence lol. So that is why I make brushes and hang out so much more during the winter break. I am going to make a bigger effort to hang around more this year. Last year was discovery boar brushes so I would like to write up my experiences. My Vetiver by Guerlain showed up as well. If you're a vetiver fan this stuff will impress you immensely. It my new favorite.
