  8. Nice dopp kit! I'm trying to develop my travel gear for DE shaving. I need a travel brush. I was also looking at some vintage Gillette travel razors and bid on one but ended up losing the bid. I have an Arko stick so I think I'll put it in there.

  11. If Carlsberg did BBS.....

Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam
Razor - GEM Micromatic Clog Pruf
Blade - Personna GEM SE Stainless (#3)
    Brush - Vie-Long 04312 Cachurro Horse
Soap - Beaver Woodwright Captain's Pipe
After - Frozen towel / Alum & WH Mix
    Result - BBS

Back with the Clog Pruf again because my last shave was as close and comfortable as I believe it's possible to get with any method; I was still BBS over 24 hours later. After four days, I was at where I would be two days after any DE shave.
Thanks to a generous forum member, I was able to try a sample of this wonderfully named soap (croap maybe?). Scent wise, it's exactly as described and quite evocative of long gone days with my grandad. I also get a strong honey whiff from it (but YMMV).
Performance wise, I could use a great many superlatives but I'll just leave it at the best soap I've ever used. It's got everything going for it and I'll be placing an order soon.
In the top three shaves I've ever had.
  12. After being on an injector binge for weeks I picked up my 1914 this morning. Ah, everything I remembered it to be. Nice audible feedback and I can feel the whiskers being cut as the blade glides smoothly all over my face. This is one great razor. It amazes me how many good razors are out there - and this is one of my best. No nicks, cuts or weepers and one super close shave.

  13. Saturn's Day: Day 8 of my second set of blade trials

Prep: Hot Shower, Nivea Moisturizing Face Wash
    Brush: @Jayaruh #33 Horsehair
Lather: Ginger's Garden Jasmine Oakmoss with clay and mango butter
    Razor: Merkur 41c 1908 OC
    Blade: Q-Ball Platinum Plus (2)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (4, 5, 6)
Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Ginger's Garden Jasmine Oakmoss aftershave splash
Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron by Caron

I'm clearly going to need to do some more practice lathering with the #33; I'm having trouble dialing in the right ratio for a stable lather with it, even with soaps that perform well. While it appears to my naked eye that the 41c has slightly less blade exposure than the RAKE, it is a slightly less forgiving shaver, which is the combination that makes it my choice for the second day on these blades. As yesterday, this little-discussed blade performed wonderfully, with nearly BBS comfortable results despite the aforementioned issues with dialing in the right water ratio for the lather, and the GG aftershave splash again proves to provide the best skincare for my particular needs of anything I've tried.

  18. Very nice Super Adjustable. From what I can see it's a short handle?
  19. I'll take it out of the case tomorrow. I believe it is a long handle, however, you may be right. It is in great shape.:happy088:
