Hello all you may or probably may not remember my cowboy boot saga a few years ago! I recently went to the USA again this November and I bought some boots yay!!! However I didn't purchase any leather boot conditioner (silly me). I have been wearing the boots fine but I'm getting a bit paranoid that they might split so I looked up conditioners and bick 4 seems to come out tops every time however I cannot buy bick 4 off the shelf or even online in the uk I can get it on USA eBay or amazon but the postage is more than the product. Can anyone recommend any other conditioners for boots that may be available in the uk I am going to buy some bick 4 but I have a wedding next sat and really want to wear my boots as always any help or advice greatly appreciated. Thanks again Nathan
Of course. Dr. Marten's Wonder Balsam is one of the best leather conditioners on the market. It is a blend of Coconut oil, Beeswax, and Lanolin. It's the only leather conditioner I've used for about 10 years now. Good stuff. ...and since Dr. Marten's is a U.K. brand, Wonder Balsam ought to be easy to find. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s_ss_i_0_15?k=dr martens wonder balsam&sprefix=dr martens wond Edit: any Doc Marten's store ought to have some on hand.
Thanks for the reply guys do you know if it's a neutral conditioner or will it change the color of the leather?? Thanks again Nathan
I use Bick 4, but I would be fine with any of the major brands, after reading good reviews and content.
I use beeswax oil on my leather footwear. Available at the nearest horse equipment supplier for cheap.
I have been using Obenauf's LP Boot Preservative for years, with great succuss. This leather his is about twenty years old, and has been my go to hat spring, winter, and fall: It is completely waterproof, and may be cleaned by simply rinsing it under the faucet.
It seems to be neutral. It just brings out the natural color of the leather more. I use it on my Doc work boots as well as my Redwing Iron Rangers and they look good after an application. I only apply it about twice a year.
