  1. I had to force mine. I didn't damage the razor but the blade magazine came out in pieces. My B type was missing most of the plating when I got it so I wasn't worried about damage either. It only cost me about $20 since I bought it in a lot.

  2. I missed a spot this morning and decided after breakfast that I had to kill it. I used the Rise again, without water, and got it. Now I can joimn Dick Butkus and Jerry Lucas and go on TV talking about how Rise's moisture power can do the job without water. But usually I do use water anyway.

  3. Congrats! I did a one pass shave on Saturday night, and was pretty happy with the results. I did have to shave again Monday, but might try a week of 1 pass shaves and see how that goes.
  4. Do you have any pointers on how to force it?

    Razor – Cobra Classic
    Blade – Kai Mild (4)
Brush –Rubberset 400 #3 with WHP HMW
Lather – Chiseled Face Trade Winds
Post - Witch Hazel followed by Myrsol F/Extra

I overslept this morning so the shave was a rushed 2 pass effort, ATG & XTG. I ended with better than a DFS which I am pleased with. Finished off with a splash of Myrsol F/Extra. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

Nice performing soap. The blade gave me a nice shave but the AS bit more than usual.
    Have fun!
  7. OK, I gave up on my Tech focus. I've resigned myself to getting OK shaves with them...not bad, but the baby was nowhere to be found.

Today, as a comparison to make sure I still know what I'm doing I broke out the DE89, my very first DE razor. My face is BBS happy, I'm BBS happy and the world is just a better place.[IMG]

    TABAC Tuesday
    January 19, 2016
Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost
Razor: Mongoose B3 Dr. Bomber Handle
    Blade: Feather Professional
    Lather: TABAC
    Brush: Semogue 610
Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate
    Aftershave: TABAC
It's been awhile since I've used TABAC and the Mongoose, TABAC is an acquired scent, but no mistaking the quality of the soap. Mongoose just does it with ease. I need to use the Semogue 610 a lot more. I slept like a baby last night, I'm sure the rain hitting the window sill played a role.

  9. January 2016 Focus -- Blade search for the 1958 Executive

    January 19

    Razor: Gillette 1958 Executive adjustable
    Blade: GSB (1)
    Brush: Stirling Kong
    Soap: Stirling MITA
Post: Cold water rinse, Witch Hazel, Fine Snake Bite
    20151229_230130-picsay.jpg

Today I switched to my standard bearer blade, the GSB. I wanted a close in time comparison with the Bolzano I just used. Today was an excellent shave as always with the GSB and Executive. I think the Bolzano is sharper than the GSB but every bit as smooth. No irritation from either blade and no problem with 1 day growth or multiple days' growth. These two blades are going to be 1A and 1B for me.

Enjoyed the menthol from the MITA yesterday so decided I needed to have a repeat today. The soap is always great for me and feels amazing with the slight menthol hit. Used the Fine Snake Bite after my shave for another blast of menthol. It really does have some kick to it. I will be out of town on business the next couple days using my Tabac stick with my Executive and a GSB blade. I will be back to using my VDH boar because it is easier to travel with than the Kong. Looking forward to doing some face lathering with it.

  10. Razor: Gillette Black Beauty (R2) 1971
    Blade: Personna SS Lab (5)
Brush: White Handle Nylon 3-D WD 24-67 Silver Tip
    Soap: Proraso Cream
    Bowl: White Nylon 3-D
    A/S: Lucky Tiger

I believe I have the brush and the bowl correct. The brush fits the hand perfectly and the knot whips up an amazing lather. The bowl is a perfect size and allows for enough room to build an excellent lather. Thank you Secret Santa for a great gift. DFS today!!!

Day 19 - 90 Day Intro to SR

    image.jpeg

Day 19 of my intro...found myself with time for another "test" shave. Same idea as yesterday, two precise passes and SR only touch up. Lathered up the R66, perfect as usual, and had an easy first pass. Caught my cheek with the point again, but just a drop of blood, didn't even feel it. Pass two got me to CCS/DFS and the touchup on the jaw and chin scored DFS. Irritation was much better than yesterday, and alum bore this out. 30 laps on the leather and we are ready for tomorrow! Busy day running errands and working on stuff. Great weather and a trip to the arena for a ball game tonight! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado!

    Route 66 - Lumberjack

    Have a terrific Tuesday evening!

  17. You diagnosed it correctly. Bolzano is a highly underrated blade. Those Germans know how to make steel.
