Those Personna 74s are probably round about the same sharpness as a Feather Pro blade for me ..They can last quite a long time an all..Mega Bucks..

Thanks Billy, I was curious enough to try them. I also cut down a Feather Pro (once I went out and bought a proper metal cutter...wife wasn't very happy with what I did to her kitchen shears...but thats another story)

Anyway will probably try the modified Feather next and then the Twins during the rest of the month.

3-day growth, so a 3-pass shave.

I had my first shave with this blade on Friday after a 1-day growth. I wanted to test it with a longer beard. It didn’t disappoint.

Both of the first two passes (WTG, XTG) gave good whisker reduction. The last pass (ATG) left my face like butta!

I am very satisfied with this blade, as I have been with the three that preceded it. It is a very sharp blade and has a reputation to be very long-lasting. So unless one of my last two blades in the trials does remarkably better, I can see staying with this razor/blade combo as my travel set-up. With some users reporting dozens of shaves on a single P74 blade, I’ll just keep the one blade in the razor and be able to go on a two-week trip or use it for 3 - 4 months of business (car) travel without packing extra blades. I keep the kit in the car for late nights on road where I decide to overnight.

So I’m down to two blades left in the trials. Tomorrow and the rest of this week it will be the ‘Fergie Feather” - the cut down version of a Feather AC Pro as devised by @Billyfergie (and find out for sure if this is just his way of hazing the new injector users.) I’ll wrap up the last week of the month with a Schick Twin.

Vince..Those Feather Pros are as sharp as the 74s & maybe then some I reckon but they just Don't last anything near as long..Be good to hear your thoughts here as there are very few folks that have used any of these blades in an Injector..Never mind both..

Thanks Billy, I think it's a matter of the curiosity killing the cat...or the cat's bank account.
Chick blade = 81 cents US each
P74 = $3. US each.

I'd have to get a whole lot more shaves with the P74 to justify it. But it does feel noticeably sharper. It'll be interesting to see my growth by tomorrow. It was a curiosity purchase and even if I was "MegaBucks" I'd still have problem finding any of these NOS anyway.

Will be interesting to compare with the Feather AC and the Twins next week!

I was just looking at sold listings on the bay. somebody scored a B1 for $20 on a buy it now. Killer score whoever you are. I hope it was one of us.

Growth from Monday's shave with Personna74 was minimal, but just enough stubble on chin and jaw requiring a workday shave for afternoon meetings.

I did two passes (WTG, ATG). Had used a Feather AC Pro in a Mongoose in November, but wanted to do WTG just to get a feel for the blade in the C1.

I'm very confident with my blade angle having gotten used to this razor in the first half of the month. But this blade is so very sharp - it showed me where my technique is not perfect with three weepers that I never felt - cheek, chin, corner of mouth.

If nothing else this blade will definitely cause me to laser-focus on my technique with every stroke. It certainly requires a 'feather-like touch.'

Other than the few weepers that disappeared with cold water and sealed shut with witch hazel, this is certainly a blade that could see regular use in the C1 and I look forward to trying it in other injectors as I get as comfortable with those as I am with the C1.

Growth from yesterday's first shave with the FergieFeather was minimal, like so many shaves this month.

(hmmm...internal philosophical interlude - could there be something to all this talk about facial hair growing more slowly during the winter?...is there something to be said about this global warming stuff?...if a train leaves NY for Chicago at the same time as one from Chicago to NY, but in the winter...OH sorry)

Anyway, minimal 24-hour stubble so I challenged my early morning shakes again and used the modified Feather AC Pro for a one-pass ATG shave.

Once again a very sharp, close and mostly smooth shave. Still working on the best approach to my chin since I've abandoned the goatee. (Mustache have survived.)

The success I've had this month with each of four different blades so far, has me thinking that I will continue the blade trials with the rest of my injectors over the course of the next few months, possibly into the summer.

I've only been at this since last May...after 40 years of carts and electric. Hooked before the first month was over and AD set in.

So I'm committed to slow down the acquisition, try over two dozens razors I've accumulated and be more of a knowledgeable, committed user rather than a simple collector. These month-long focuses (foci) help immensely. Eager to see others at a similar stage try the same, while learning from the wise, experience guys.
(Did I just call them wise guys!)

I too have only been at it for a few months also. When i first started here I only was interested in DE. Once i got my first injector it all changed. I get way better shaves with injectors. The injectors also are cooler looking. Case in point the repeaters. Wicked looking and a great shave.

I have only been shaving with my Bunny trying to get it dialed in. Once i do, its year of the injector for me.

Early morning meeting, checking out of my hotel, horrible weather...blah, blah, blah. I rushed the shave. I learned that you cannot rush this blade. Weepers. All resolved with cold water and witch hazel and a fine 1-pass shave, but technique suffered due to the rush job.

Oh well, we live to shave another day!

Ive been doing the focus month thing since September, where I tried injectors for the first time. Pretty much hooked me on SE razors from that point. I totally agree with you on the focus month strategy......except sticking with it an entire month. I usually have to take a break or two to prevent boredom. Hence my planned SoTD for tomorrow. Your focus inspired me to get out the Type C for a day or two

Yeah...These Feather Pros aint for the faint hearted in a repeater that's for sure..

This will be the 6th and final blade type that I will try this month in the C1. I will attempt to give a final review at the end of the month but all blades have performed very well in the trials.

So last night I prepped for this shave by loading a Schick Twin Blade into the C1. I load my blades into the C1 manually and noticed that this blade seemed different in size. I have not taken measurements, but it seems wider and thicker than other blades used in it. AND with more blade exposure.

The fit into the C1 was extremely tight. Prior to getting this razor, the seller had it reconditioned at Razor Emporium. My sense is that they attempt to return these things as close to manufacturers specs as possible. This blade will be a bear for me to get out of the razor, but…

I was extremely anxious this morning and took it real slow. Whether it’s the exposure or the blade sharpness, I got a very clean and extremely close shave that is now eight hours old and still has that ‘just shaved’ feeling. The exposure made me go especially slow and easy around my vulnerable spots - chin and corners of my mouth. No nicks or weepers, great shave.

I’ll be spending the rest of the week with this blade.

That's right Vince..Between the extra blade exposure & the sharpness of these blades they provide an awesome shave in the Repeater..They work really well..Glad you enjoyed it..It has to be done to be appreciated ..

I hadn't realized how tight the fit of the blade and razor would be. It was easy enough to get it in (using the underside of my wooden desk! yes, that is an approved technicians tool!), but I'll be wondering how in blazes I'm going to get it out!

Oh well, glad I chose this blade to be the last one for the month. Having it snug-fit in there I'm not going to remove it until that blade wears out!

So I saw one of these today for $40 and thought, "that seems really expensive for a schick"...it was a gold one similar to yours @Rufus T. , is that a fair price? and how do you like that SV 70th?

I found them a tad tighter for sure but they went in & came out easily enough..It will depend on how much someone has tightened the head to take a thinner current injector blade..
