Very nice shave. GG Rose Petals is a fantastic soap. I really enjoy using the Gillette Super Speed, very good consistent shaves.

Our much anticipated over night snow fall in Metro Atlanta really fizzled out. I was so looking forward to a snow SOTD photo like @Douglas Carey. The little dusting we did receive was not worth braving the cold wind for a photo. So I will just have to make do with a very relaxing weekend shave. Using the DK7 brush, I overloaded the Catie's Bubbles Sandalwood. I have discovered that this knot releases the lather so quickly that I have to overload the brush. That's a small sacrifice given my soap inventory. ;) Loaded with a new Feather blade, I decided to follow Charlie's, @wristwatchb , lead and go only ATG on my neck. Other than that change I went with a 3 pass shave paying attention to the angle and skin stretching. With only small touch up around my chin, I ended with a BBS. A very smooth and enjoyable shave. I find it very nice to use such an efficient but relatively forgiving razor. I finished up a splash of Fine Platinum. Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

Taking today to do a bit of exploring. Trying out my new JR13 brush from Jayaruh and Dr. Jons Anne Bonny. But razor and Blade will remain the same.

Don't let your blade touch anything like the sink or faucet...

Also a little sharp corner forming.

But, then Glen ( @gssixgun ) was able to get it back to this:

(Glen, if you see this, feel free to hijack for a minute and talk about what went on!)

The object is a common staple. The razor shaved really well, and passed the sideburn to jaw "shave test" with ease. I was able to pull of that full stroke, leaving by little behind, no real tugging or pulling (once my novice hands find the angle), and no real irritation afterward. Thanks Glen!

  9. Thank you! Much like any other tedious activity, it really gets better with practice. I am far from being an expert, but it's gone better than I thought. I just stop and think, "what's the worst that happen?"

I went for a two pass today, and was rewarded with a DFS +. I few spots on my neck that keep me from a BBS. The alum has a little tickle, but was fairly quiet. I suspect I won't need a shave tomorrow, but we'll see. My son joined me as well, so it was a great time.

My January focus turned into a cream focus. This is two shaves in one post. Both with the same hardware, Wade and Butcher 5/8 blade, Omega 48 brush. Both face lathered one with the Simpsons cream, the other aos sandelwood. Both were straight only, no de clean up. Wtg and xtg on face and 2x wtg on neck. Close attention paid to light pressure and thoroughness. Rewarded with a couple of dfs.

  14. Focus - Hard Soaps
I am very thankful to those of you that encouraged me to join the 30 day focus last July. It has made a huge difference for me. I focused on hard soaps this month because I could never get as good a lather with soap as I did with cream. Now after three weeks of focus, I am getting good lather with soaps I had struggled with in the past. This is fun.

  15. That's great. I know nothing of straights but can appreciate the time and skill that would take. You must be really happy with the results
  16. When I shaved yesterday, on Glen's fresh edge, it made me realize that my stropping needs work. At this point in time, I don't want to complicate matters by learning to hone. It's a very special skill set, and we're lucky to have guys like Glen around the forum.
  17. I'm glad your getting good results. It's great to see someone so far into the focus group still enjoying and learning.
  18. I can't think of myself not finding something to focus on every month. I can always learn something. I'm already thinking ahead to next month. I'm thinking injectors for a month.
  19. That sounds good. I'm always thinking ahead I'm thinking although very boring I should go back to my first focus for half and give my 1924 another run on the 2nd half just to be sure I am were I think I am before moving on.
