Vintage Hollins Boar Kenneth Cole Mankind ASB Aqua Velva Musk The Eclipse has moved to the top of my DE razor pile. Efficient and smooth. It has the right amount of feedback and tells you all about your shave. You definitely know you are cutting, and are left baby bottom smooth.
Razor: Gillette Milord 1940 Blade: Gillette Silver Platinum (1) Brush: Fendrihen Silver Tip 22/49 Soap: Route 66 Lumberjack A:S Fine American Blend Excellent 3 pass shave today. The Milord is an outstanding razor. Route 66 Lumberjack can not be spoken highly enough. The Fine American Blend is a perfect finish. Have a good day.
My SOTD for today was an interesting one, as it was...well..."on the road(I spent the night at my Mom's while they are away for the week) Pre-shave: Nivea for Men Platinum(I had it stacked at my Mom's from a previous overnight) Shave-Barbasol Razor-you know the one A.S. Gillette Gel(the tiny blue one) Best shave in a long time! Maybe I was sensing the Barbasol felt better to me than does the Gillette Barbershop Fresh Foamy...or maybe it was the gel..or both. I think I'll go back to Barbasol. Even before the gel, I said "Heyy, this is like Rise!!".
SOTD 1/25/16 Menthol Monday night shave Prep: Hot Shower/ Nivea Sensitive Face Wash Pre-Shave: Phoenix Ice Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Soap: Krampert's Finest Frostbite Brush: Omega Boar Razor/ Blade: Merkur 1906/ Voskhod (3) Astringent: Witch Hazel Post-Shave: SC Integrity w/ Menthol Balm Aftershave: Krampert's Finest Frostbite Excellent shave. I wanted to participate in Menthol Monday, but since I shave at night, I wasn't sure if I should use it Sunday night or Monday night. Decided to go with Monday night. The Omega boar has an excellent loft, so it is one of the softest boars I own. It has lost quite a bit of hairs, however. The shave definitely had menthol and it was very refreshing. The Krampert's finest set was a Christmas gift from my brother. It smells very unique and good and has a good amount of menthol. Not entirely face freezing as some, but definitely present. Very happy with the shave and happy to have my SC balm back. Have a great Tuesday!
Puur Blacksmith soap Omega #248 Boar Gillette Flair Tip D-3 Pinaud Clubman S.E. I purchased this soap from Smith & Sons Knife Shop 6 or 7 months ago. It's available on Etsy from a stay at homeschool mom of five boys. Tried it once, didn't like it. Revisited the puck today with my skills improved and enjoyed it much more. Not tallow based but full of olive, castor, coconut, palm, & sunflower oil, and activated charcoal. In a mug gave a thin lather, yet slick. Loaded the Big Boar again and face lathered for much better coat. The Gillette Flair Tip hasn't made my rotation (if you can call choosing my gear as the whim hits me) since I found Feather Hi-Stainless blades. Efficient three passes gave a SAS. The smokey scent of the soap called for a deep AS, Clubman Special Reserve finished well.
This is 2nd day of cheapskate test. Razor: Gillette Tech (vintage) Blade: Personna blue(2) Oil: Secret Shave Soap/lather: Walmart brand can. After shave: Gillette gel Small finger bowl for lather General routine; Hot water, oil, lather. 1st pass across upper cheek, WTG down to apple, with slight touch-ups along the way. Do other side the same. The 2nd pass is a thin lather, then ATG/WTG/XTG all around where indicated. Finally, feel all over for holidays, usually 2 or 3 small patches, apply what`s left in bowl to each patch.... voila ! this morning was a near, I mean really near BBS. happy camper am I. I still need practice with my wife`s camera. The red dot on the razor is finger nail polish to distinguish one side (edge) from the other, i always mark the blade and always line them up so I`ll know how many times I`ve used that edge. I use the same edge 3 days in a row, the flip over for 3 days (6 shaves- 1 blade) wow! @ 13.9 cents per blade, do the math..... el cheapo, methinks. Love you guys for indulging my nonsense, Bill
