I've started writing my SotD entries in my journal software and then tagging it "shaving." That way, I have a permanent record should I ever want to refer to it.

If I'm expected to proof read what I write here, I also expect to be paid. Most of my writing here is off the cuff because I consider it on the level of BS amongst friends.

I hope my comments weren't misunderstood.

I have not had the privilege of being a part of other shaving forums but I have noted many comments since I've been a member here about how gracious the members of this forum are towards one another and that apparently isn't the case on other shaving forums.
As Rob (@Red Rider) already noted, his post was simply a bit of a rant and a mentioning of preference and his intention was not to be critical.

I was simply applauding Chris' (@Bama Samurai) most eloquent and more gracious way of putting it and noting my own particular failure in the same area to heed my wife's constant comment; "It's not what you say, it's how you say it". Apparently I have the habit of speaking first (and thinking last) and sometimes offending without intent. It was obvious that some folks might have felt unwelcome if they don't have the time, the equipment or the skills to add photographs to their postings and I don't believe that Rob meant to imply that in any way.

My comment about grammar is in reference to my apparent delusion that I've been giving the duty of pointing out spelling and grammar mistakes as some sort of service to humanity and I constantly need to be reminded that I'm not the spelling police. I need to appreciate everyone's participation at whatever level and not think less of their contribution simply because I think they should have given more attention to detail.

Thankfully though, one of the lessons I continually learn on this forum is how to be gracious and generous towards others.

On another note, Troy's (@Troy M) comment about shutter noises coming from the bathroom cracked me up.

I usually go through the threads a few times. Some I just glance over photos, being a photographer I love looking at good photos and the SOTD threads are where photographers shine on here. But at some point I generally go through and read all of the rest as well as I like to see what people say about their products and such.

Great pics. Do you use those clippers?

I'm very guilty to only looking at the pictures...
I'm equally 'guilty' to often just posting a photo without any comments.

I confess to being one of the ones who only posts text. There's a couple of reasons but they mostly boil down to time and lack of creativity.

That said, I have my own couple of gripes with SOTD postings:
1) Pictures with no/little text. This is mostly annoying as I will sometimes find myself staring at, say, an interesting razor but have no idea what one it is.
2) Mismatches of pic and text. I keep seeing at least one poster whose pic will include an interesting and obviously three-piece razor but list something completely different like a SuperSpeed as the razor for the SOTD.

Shave of the day. Basically where everyone shares what components they used for the day. Many do so with photos, some do so with mini reviews of the products. Check it out some time and share yours!

I agree. I picture TSD conversation as similar to what would go on in a Barber Shop waiting area. No need to be too picky.

This sentiment has already been stated, but again, the beauty of this Forum (in particular, TSD) is that everyone contributes something; some more, some less---just like in real life. I appreciate the beautiful pictures---with or without accompanying commentary. Occasionally, I post an SOTD without a photo, because I enjoy maintaining my connection to the Den and the good folks here.

It sounds like we are good with whatever style is used to post. Time for a group hug
