SOTD Gillette Fat Handle Tech/ Personna Lab Blue (1) @Jayaruh Silvertip #23 Tabac Shaving Soap Georgetown Scuttle Lilac Vegetal All new everything!!!! Well almost I know I have committed a wet shaving sin (more then one unknown variable ) but by some bizarre act of nature or the stars alignments I prevailed with no harm done!!! The only thing in todays shave that I have ever used before was my scuttle and of course the Personna. Todays shave went nearly perfect (I'll explain the nearly part after). The @Jayaruh Silvertip #23 was a lather hog and whipped up an amazing lather from the Tabac in only 30 seconds. The Tabac's skin feel and protection as well as scent was amazing in my opinion and the Tabac has earned it's spot in my rotation and I look forward to using it again. The Gillette Fat Handle Tech really surprised me with how mild yet efficient it is. BBS in 2 passes on two days growth with no touch up needed. Now for the part that I was most worried about.... my first dance with The Infamous Veg. I had not smelled it before using it as I wanted to give it a fair chance instead of just taking a whiff from the bottle and making my decision if I liked it then as I have read in reviews the scent in the bottle can be completely different when applied on the skin. So I finished cleaning up rinsed my face with cold water and opened the bottle poured a fair amount into my hands and slapped it on. My first thought was I have smelled this before (my daughter helped me pin point the smell shortly after) and then it transformed as it died down into an amazing and refreshing scent. Floral yet manly somehow.. Actually this stuff rocks!!! But it still has to pass the SWMBO and Kids Test. The Wife surprisingly said it is very nice and she likes it a lot and when I asked my daughter how she liked it she replied "Daddy you smell like Play-Doh!!" (That's what I had initially smelt and I have to agree the first 15 seconds it does have a Play-Doh scent at least to me.) I am glad they both as well as me like it and it has a permanent and often spot in my rotation now. Oh and the nearly part....doesn't really have to do with the actually shave but... I am a little OCD and the crooked sticker on the front of the bottle of the Veg is driving me insane..... Sorry for writing a book as well... Hope your all having a great day/night and have a great shave!!!!
Finishing January on my feet! Razor - Mongoose Blade - (2) Brush - BoS Omega 10066 Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Post - Cold rinse, Alum, Nivea, The Veg My plan for the day was to use the Rabbit instead of the Mongoose but my hands are a bit unsteady still from the meds. So, rather than finish the month a bloody mess, which some assumed I had anyway, I stayed with the Goose. BoSFat for the perfect lather. I've been debating trying some new soaps. However, I think I'd be just as happy going minimalist with MWF and Tabac and the occasional Proraso Green and Arko just to mix it up a bit. Something to think about. As far as the shave today another nice DFS on two passes plus touch ups and out the door for work. Nice to be getting back in the routine. Now, what to do in February?
Beautiful picture! Love the collection of items! I will definitely be trying the Route66. Heard so many good things about it.
January 28 Razor: Gillette 1958 Executive adjustable Blade: Feather (2) Brush: Stirling Kong Soap: Tabac Post: Cold water rinse, Witch Hazel, Fine Clean Vetiver Day two with the feather and it definitely was smoother than day one but still just as sharp. Think I still prefer the Bolzano but the feather was definitely a good quality shave!
I like my Veg, too. It is recommended that you decant into another, preferably glass bottle right away. After you have moved the Green Stuff out of the original plastic bottle, fill it with water. Microwave it to near boiling. Just near, not boiling. The label will come off easily, & the near boiling water will burn you. This also damages the original plastic bottle. While the glue is still hot and sticky place the label on the new glass bottle. You're welcome
Thank you @wmbjr You won't be disappointed. Route 66 quickly became my favorite soap. It scores a 10 across the board for me.
GOOD MORNING TSD ! TGIF!! 01/29/16 SOTD Gillette Old Type Ball End OC Asco Super Stainless (4) Synthetic Brush C.O.Bigelow Cold Water Rinse Alum Block Pinaud Clubman A/S Today was day four of My same razor, blade and lather combo I switched out the brush's and aftershaves and still got the same results A BBS shave. One thing I learned is bowl lathering the C.O.Bigelow cream gives me a nicer lather than face lathering. It's also the most I've used the Alum block instead of my beloved Witch Hazel so tomorrow is the last day of this combination we'll see how it ends! HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!
January 29 Gillette Flare Tip Super Speed (Z3) Feather (1) Kent BK8 silvertip badger Route 66 Lumberjack Alum, Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Floid Vigoroso What a great way to start a Friday! Two passes with the Super Speed and a fresh Feather blade with wonderful lather from the Route 66 Lumberjack. This may be the best overall set up I have in my shave den. It has really helped me to focus on my two-pass shaves using the SS over the past two months. I don't know what I like better - the scent of the Route 66 soap or the Vigoroso. I'm enjoying the Lumberjack scent now. I'll apply some Vigoroso before I leave for work and get another treat then. Two more shaves with the Flare Tip, and I'll revisit my Weber PH. I'm looking forward to the change in my routine. Enjoy your day!
