  1. All the pieces fell into place
PAA Ice started things off right, and chilly. Test Depth gave up excellent lather and scent to my Brothers Bristles Spartan Bronze brush. The scent of TD is like a cologne, I think I detect jasmine and citrus with a woody base. Der Futur made smooth and easy work of my stubble even though it was loaded with a Voskhod on its fifth shave. Usually I pitch them after three, but I've gotten as many as seven shaves from a single blade. B&M Awesome proved to be an ideal compliment to TD, leaving my face feeling and smelling great.

A near repeat of yesterday's shave, 2 passes ending in a near BBS. I like using the Soap Commander in shave stick form. I find it very easy to lather with ample slickness. The shave stick is so much easier to store in the drawer. Finished up with a splash of Fine L'Orange followed by whipped shea butter. I hope everyone had a great Friday.
  3. today
hot water wash with nuetrogena men's invigorating face wash and a washcloth
    Parker pure badger
    soap commander love
Eaton 85 Diamond Edge 5/8 full hollow spike
    Crusella& co legitima rose
    soap commander love balm
    Prada Luna Rosa
today's shave was very nice. the Parker always nice. sc love is like a bouquet of roses. three passes with the Diamond Edge, I'm smooth as silk. finished with legitima rose, then a rubdown with the love balm. topped off with a spritz of Prada. now I'm smooth as silk and smellin' like a rose.
hope y'all did as well, or better.

  6. Hello TSD

This month is coming to an end and so is my comparison of the two Merkur Adjustables. I'll give you my final assessment tomorrow.

    So today I used:

    locu.jpg

    - Faena Aeolica Tallow & Lanolin soap
    - Grosvenor "Finest"
    - Merkur Progress on 4
    - GSB (shave #6)
    - Tüff sensitiv AS

This new Faena soap offers fantastic slickness and protection and is probably the best soap I know in terms of post shave skincare. My skin feels as if I had used some balm or cream, which I have not. On the other hand this particular soap is pretty finicky while lathering - you have to be very cautious with the amount of water you add. But even a thinner lather provides nice slickness.

The new brush knot is amazing, a true lather monster. And with the second use today it already lost some of the initial prickliness. Already love it.

The Progress again performed nicely today. Two passes (WTG and A/XTG), close and smooth. Though ATG it was a little rougher than usual, I guess the blade might be past its prime.

Finished with cold water rinse and a splash of Tüff sensitive Aftershave. No burning, no irritation. That's how I like it :) :happy088:

    Noxema preshave cream
Gillette Heavy Tech / Gillette 7 o'clock Super Stainless
    Omega / TOBS Natural
    WH / Shea butter

Nice shave this morning. Today I am beginning a 4 week trial of Gillette 7 o'clock Super Stainless blades (green). Hard to believe I am setting aside my Astra SP blades. After this 4 week trial I am going to do a 4 week trial of the Gillette 7 o'clock Sharp Edge (yellow). Hard to tell much after my first shave with this new blade...but I will report on my progress over the 4 weeks. I can't judge the performance of a blade unless I use it for an extended period of time...in my usual daily razor. TGIF...enjoy the weekend! :chores016:

  9. Good Morning fellow Shave Denizens, today's SOTD as follows;

    1939-45 Gillette Fat Handle Tech.
    Shark Super Chrome blade.
Ghetto Chinese Brush that is now in the trash.
    Proraso Red shaving soap.
    Vintage English Leather as splash.
    Vintage English Leather cologne.

I had not used this razor in a long time, and now I'm wondering why not? It is very effective. However it is mild. The brush bit the big one today. It was only its third shave, but I can guarantee you it is its last. That thing is a dud. Anyway, here's the photo-

    Friday - Planned shave

Since today is an off day (sort of) with a conference starting around 10, I'm waiting until the sun comes up to shave. Here is what I plan to use.

    Prep: hot shower
Lather: The Soap Exchange tallow Bay Rum scent
Brush: TGN synthetic Burma Shave handle
    Razor: Blackland Blackbird
    Blade: Persona Lab Blue (13)
    Post: Old Spice

  17. What an amazing, frigid shave with my Frozen Tundra soap which smells great, lathers so rich and slick, and has the second strongest menthol power after the Glacials. The skincare is so moisturizing, soothing, as well as protective. The Lucky Tiger aftershave cream is a definite keeper for me, and that Rubby Dubby Doo is also indispensable for me! ;) :D
