low cost Scuttle ?

Can anyone tell me where I could purchase a scuttle for a reasonable price? To me, reasonable means within my budget. I am disabled and on a fixed income. I don't have a lot of spare money to send and I can't justify paying 40.00, 50.00, 60.00 or more for a scuttle.
I need something 20.00 or less. Even something that I can re-purpose as a scuttle would work as long as it keeps the lather warm. I know I can browse the thrift stores, but it may take awhile and I am not very patient.
    Any ideas, suggestions?

The price is most definitely right. I guess I'll have to browse the local thrift stores.
If you do a PIF with it, count me in!!
BTW How do you like that Lavender shaving cream?

Yes, I like the TOBS Lavender. It was my first TOBS. It lathers very easily, and its scent is not overpowering. Very nice cream.

I have found several on etsy around 25 bucks when I was testing the scuttle waters. I do Love scuttles. I have tried many. The only three I really liked and that did their job extremely well were north of $50.
It is worth saving for one you will love. Meanwhile you can use two different size bowls one in the other. I know I need at least 12oz of hot water for a brush to stay warm through the shave.

I'm really just seconding what Jayaruh said, but this works really nicely for me. It's a small ceramic bowl set in a large soup mug. I pre-heat it by filling both pieces with water and setting the bowl in the mug for a few minutes (usually while I shower) and then refreshing the hot water in the mug just before I start lathering. I use the small bowl only to hold my lathered brush, not for building lather. (I usually face lather, too.) I also have a stainless bowl, slightly larger and a good bit deeper than the small bowl. I'd like to use it but haven't found a properly sized container for the bottom. I like to trawl thrift and antique stores anyway, so I'll come across one.

I have a few and made most of mine, the most expensive one was like $8....I would say find you favorite lather bowl, then go find a bowl to set it in....thrift stores, trading post, garage sales, etc....not hard and very cheap, good luck.

I couldn't resist. After trying a scuttle sent to me I broke down and purchased a G20 from Georgetown Pottery.

Great choice and a beautiful piece of pottery. IMHO, GTP creates the prettiest glazes on the market. This guy will give you toasty warm lather.:happy036:

$20 or less for a scuttle is a tough match, since shipping itself is going to be around $10. So, repurposing seems to be the best option. Some vendors sell or give away empty tubs of shaving soap/cream, so the price can be nearly zero. And you're going to get warm lather, whether you use a Georgetown scuttle or one of your own invention.

There goes the budget! Hope you get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

I too have gone the homemade thrift store rote. I found that some of the older type restaurant/hotel small bowls hold heat quite well. I don't remember what the material is called, it's basically a thick china. Add hot water to warm it, that can be enough by itself but any larger bowl with hot water underneath will assure it stays warm.
