I have had this one in the collection for a while. Rather bizarre no handle and really not sure why IMG_3152.JPG it has a reflector on one side.

It sure does look like a bike reflector. Have you ever used it?

What were they thinking? Great for shaving when biking in evening traffic?

I have not. The blades don't quite set flush on it.

It's a daintee-shave ladies travel razor. There should be pictures of the users manual somewhere online

    I found this:
As the instruction booklet indicates, the razor takes "standard double edge razor blades." According to the instructions, here is How to Shave-- "Hold the razor by the curved sides between the thumb and first finger. A light, sidewise brushing action, back and forth (it shaves in both directions) will leave your skin smooth and free of hair without irritation." And, here is How to Insert Blade-- "1) Hold razor about 1 inch above table, dresser or any flat surface. 2) Press button at end of razor and the blade holder will drop off. 3) Place razor blade on holder. 4) Place body of razor back over blade holder and press together until you hear a click." The three parts are then automatically locked together and the razor is ready for use.

Thanks for the info. I still have to wonder about the weird reflector. Wonder why they chose that.

I found a newspaper add for it from November '53, but it's hidden behind a paywall/free trial with CC info... It's in the archives of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette if you search for "Gimbels DainteeShave"
Is the thing actually reflective, or does it just look like it is?
