Still shaving with the Schick Adjustable. And, since I only have two soaps there is little variation in my setup. Until today I've been trying to get away with two passes (XTG, ATG). I've been using the razor on 5 and, while it is a comfortable shave, it has only been what I'll call a CCS. There has still been a tiny bit of stubble to be felt if I run my hand against the grain. Today I upped the setting to 6 and went with three passes (XTG, XTG, ATG). The results were better, probably a weak DFS. Maybe I'm just uncoordinated.
Scored a bit of a personal 'injector white whale' today - a NIB/NOS Gillette Twinjector. As far as I know it's the only injector razor Gillette ever made and it's been a pain trying to find one.... This one will cause me some serious headache trying to decide on to keep it in the box...or open it up and use it....
What good is it to you keeping it in the box - at least for more than a few days to admire and take photos of? Unless you scored a super bargain and plan to resell it for $$ then open it. My $.02 anyhow.
The G1 shave from Hell. That's what I got today. I tried out a G1 I've had sitting around for months - but never used. It originally had a bit of a loose spring and I was able to tighten it back up with a needle nose pliers and some forward torque applied to the base of the spring. I decided it was time to test it out as I plan to run through the G series over the coming week or two. Very rough first pass, lots of stubble left. Very rough second pass, still a good bit of stubble. I considered replacing the Schick blade with a Personna as I find them to be far superior in the G but I carried on. On the third pass I decided to alternate with a G1 I have that's always been solid. It seemed somewhat smoother so I was thinking maybe the repair had something to do with the poor performance of the repaired one. And then it happened. The more solid G1 took a nasty slice off my face near the goatee area. Crapola - a small divit. Time will tell if it will fill in. Grrrr. So, the supposedly "good" one did real damage and the repaired one just gave a mediocre shave. I blame the blades (yeah, and probably moving a bit fast) but I'm in no hurry to return to either razor to test that theory out. However, I will be ejecting the Schick in my G2 and replacing it with a Personna for the next shave in the series. You know....for wounds like these...although salt is a good idea....I always recommend searing the wound first with a red hot poker from the fire.......then dust with a little salt just to seal things nicely... And when you do this besure to take pics or video....and share here with us immediately....
What headache!......I hear this is pretty mild but that Twin blade should liven it up.....Stroke by stroke shave review pls....
That's a Quite a Rare Canadian Type E 4 you have there with the Ivory Seamed Handle..You don't often see any Type E 4s USA or Canadian made never mind one with a Seamed handle like that..The Type E 4 wasn't made as long as the previous Type E Models..You can identify the Type E 4 by having the lugs removed from the spring like the later G Type.. Billy..
Why didn't I think of that? Yeah, what's that mean when a first time shave with a Rolls leaves you smooth and unharmed but a trusty Schick takes a bite out of you?
I grabbed this on the bay and should have it soon. This is my favorite type of SE along with the Gbar. It looks cherry in these pics. $ 19.99 shipped.
$19.99 ......? .....But.....But.......it says, .49 cents......Boy did they see you coming...... All kidding aside....Congratulations......looks positively too cool for school!!!!
Thanks as always for the advice. Number 1 is definitely my main issue!!! Had to take extraordinary measures to keep from using pressure as I describe in my write up in the next post.
