Okay, you made an "enabling" suggestion here:). I asked for advice here and had no other choice, but take your advice:). Fellow member @John Beeman stepped up and graciously helped me acquire a really nice red tip.

I put the Progress at #1 and give the Fat boy a #2. It's very easy to find the angle on the Progress and it shaves very smooth. I love it over any of the razors I own.

Anybody help with the merkur futur.have had one for a month now and its a lovely razor but heard that the shaving angle is different to other safety razors.I have seen one video on you tube where they use it paralel to the face like how youd use a cartridge.any advice?

Congrats on the purchase. I have found them to be very good, aggressive razors.

I enjoy both the Merkur Progress adjustable (in current production) and the legacy Gillette adjustables. Funny thing about the Slim vs Fatboy -- I typically prefer shorter handles on razors, so I got a Fatboy and loved it. Then, after some time, I acquired a Slim (slightly longer, thinner handle) and liked it even more! I couldn't put my finger on what made the Slim more satisfying, given a handle that I didn't like as well. It turns out that the Slim isn't just slimmer in the handle, but the shaving head is slimmer too. I find it more maneuverable and nimble for under my nose & etc.

So I guess I need to keep a sharp lookout for a Gillette Slim with a Fatboy handle! No -- really I'm enjoying both these outstanding razors. Gotta say that the Merkur Progress performs equally well for me, even if it isn't the prettiest razor, and I'm awfully glad I don't have to choose. Variety, life, spice and all that.........
