Swiss-made frameback from Jaques LeCoultre, Co. (1830-1919). Wish I had a few of the extras blades picture below! The razor itself and blade are in excellent condition, despite near 100+year age (or older).
today Clauss 5/8 full hollow round end recently included in my honing trial. I don't know what I expected. it had been one of my better performers. now seemed a bit harsh( almost too sharp). hopefully it'll smooth out with use. how would I go about making the blade feel smoother? more stropping more laps on finishing stone the Diamond Edge, feels not so harsh as the wosty or now my Clauss. I've read so much, I'm getting a little confused. too sharp was a poor choice of words on my part. I'm now second guessing how good a job I did with the hones.

here's the pic good shave, after I benched the Clauss 107. guys, I think I've missed a step somewhere. and possibly I'm trying to learn too many things at once. now I have three razors that shave badly after I sought to improve them. I'm going to slow down. maybe send a few out for honing service. sort it out later, I'm going to church now. nicely shaven, thanks to Kevin and the Diamond Edge.
The Imperial Razor Improved Eagle. Beautiful razor that shaves smoothly. Brought to life at fretzwerks.com.
under magnification my edges look like llllllllllllllllllll ////////////////////// while holyrollah's looks like lllllllllllllllllllllll ________/______/_____ sorry I'm not photographic or computer savvy enough to put the pics in the post the top one is my depiction if what I see. the bevel is clear, mine has a definite uniform scratch pattern. the edge looks clear and straight. holyrollah's looked like the same shape but his looks mostly shiny with a few straight scratches here and there. mine feels sharp, grips my thumb nail, pops hairs off, till my legs look funny. just doesn't feel nice on my face. I'm thinking I haven't finished enough, or wasn't light enough on the 8k. WILL a pasted strop smooth up my edges? should I spend more time on the apache strata? if the paste is so, what should I get, and where(linkwould be great). I have: Norton 1k,4k,8k apache strata gemstar benchstrop drygulch hanging strop handheld 60k/100k microscope
