Short versio, it was great. Now for the longer version. I went with what's most familiar so that the only thing new was the razor. This shave started with a hot shower then added proraso white pre shave cream, proraso red soap and a new feather blade. On the Rockwell, I chose plate 3 and a three pass shave with the grain, across and reverse across. Then finished up with alum followed by Dove aftershave balm and then vintage Avon Wild Country splash. The result was a wonderful shave. There was no tugging. I got a much much closer shave on my neck than I'm used to, and with no irritation. Honestly, my neck is always a problem and this is the best it has felt in quite a while. It was a darn long wait for what's looking to be a gosh darn nice product.
Great to hear. I got my 'get a replacement razor for free' coupon earlier this week and it will apparently be sent out sometime next week.
How did you score that? I know you picked your razor up on the used market, so did his replacement transfer to you?
I really don't know. They contacted me and I explained I was not an initial backer but they insisted that I should get a new razor. I would have felt really bad turning them down. Maybe all you need is proof of ownership of the earlier model. Humbe-brag-moment: I actually turn down offers for free razors sometimes when I don't like the 'ties' that comes with it.
I'd check with them to see what the status is. I got a code on Wednesday this past week...messaged them back asking when it would be sent out and they replied w/in a couple of hours that it should be sent out before this coming Friday
Garrett from Rockwell posted a few days back on Reddit saying that preorders are getting shipping priority over replacements because they need to keep bringing new money in to pay for replacement razors. It's not ideal but nice to see him being up front about it.
That explains how I got my 6s razor last week. I was not a backer but a preorder person. And, bringing in new money makes sense to me. I have shaved 2 X's with this razor using the R1 and R2 plates. Ex. shave both times and the razor looks really great with substantial heft. A bargain IMHO at $79 delivered! Keep it up Rockwell!!
Moved up to plate 5 tonight, it's s hair more aggressive than I'd like. It was awesome on my face but let me with some feedback from the alum on my neck. Plate 4 tomorrow.
Once my new razor gets here, I'm willing to do a pass around of the one I have now if anyone is interested....
Great to hear yours have shipped. I just set them an email begging for them to sell me another handle, cap and stand so I can keep the more aggressive plate for my face and the midway plate for my neck without having to switch midshave. Stayed with plate 5 tonight one pass wtg on my neck then wtg, across-against and reverse across-against on my face.... darn near BBS and no irritation on the face with just a hint of feedback from the alum on my neck.
