1. Thank you, cheskin. That helps a lot with my decision. Good to know. The other thing is, when the blade is secured (firmly), will it slip sideways, I sometimes use slant strokes on difficult areas.

Again thanks for the info, Bill
  2. Blade really sits tight in this razor. I don't think it is possible to make it move by any shave move. :)
  3. Any chance you'll make a shaving video showing off the razor in use? :D
Thanks again for all your great photos and info.
  4. That would be great! If we can't use it, we might as well see somebody use it.

  5. Unfortunately I can't make a second video since I have already sent the prototype back to Rocnel but I think I will receive my own razor earlier than anybody here since I am in the first 100 in the list and shipping inside Istanbul just takes one day. I will post a shaving video right after.

  7. I'm curious as to whether you still feel this way after trying, liking, and purchasing one of my Shake Sharp razors, which does use a DE blade in an SE configuration.

  8. This might be of interest to anyone worried about not receiving an email response to their pre-order. Last night over on TSR I asked ckeskin:

"Do you happen to know if everyone who pre-ordered should expect an email response, and if not, will they still get their razor?"

    His reply:

"There is no need for an e-mail response. Rocnel will contact people for payment details when the razors are ready."
  9. I`ve been researching the Shake Sharp razors and I would be interested trying one on loan. I have a Gem featherweight se. I just can`t seem to get used to the traditional se blade ( I use it for sideburn trims and some minor touch-ups), maybe eventually I`ll learn how to use it).

    Respectfully, Bill
  10. They are preparing orders for the SE razors:

  11. Well, . . . no. :ashamed001:

I have to admit that the Shake Sharp is one fine shaving razor, and it has forced me to reconsider my feelings re: blade thickness. While I still think that all things being equal thicker is better, the Shake Sharp and its DE blade can hold its own against any SE in my collection. I loaded it with a Feather this morning and enjoyed as close a shave as I've ever experienced. :happy036:

So, I'll keep an open mind regarding the Rocnel.

  12. Meh. I wonder how much extra they would charge to add knurling?
High praise indeed from a dedicated SE fellow.

  13. It IS a $25 razor - give them a break ;)
It's is however really nice to hear that you can use different handles with it though.
  14. I don't blame them in the least, but if I can get knurling added for $5-10 per razor, I'll do it. A stainless knurled handle would be worth at least $25 by itself.

  15. +1

I'm already thinking that if this mid-aggressive razor comes through (both in delivery and shaving quality) I might 'have' to have the later, intended 'mild' and 'aggressive' heads.
We shall see what selling them through a third party might do for the price point though but I'm staying positive :)

  16. Maggard Razors has nice selection of knurled stainless steel handles starting at $14. I have them on several of my razors, and will almost certain use one on the Rocnel.

  17. I know that apparently the handles are going to be shorter than the original design (which was too long) but has there been any confirmation that they are no longer going to be knurled? The handles in the picture, although it says "preparing orders", could still be unfinished.

@ckeskin can you shed any light on this?

  18. I was thinking they were just stacking the unknurled handles, in preparation for the next step. Hopefully, that will be the knurling.

  19. On further research of the Shake Smart razor, it has become evident that I would not care for the Shake part, anyway the Rocnel will accomplish what I`m almost positive is what I want.

  20. Folks don't worry, as far as I know, these handles are still in process, I mean unfinished and a nice knurling will be soon engraved. You don't need to add and extra payment for the knurling also. Besides Rocnel'll introduce you handles with different knurling stylesfor this SE razor in future.
