The thread on highest mileage cars got me thinking. What car have you owned the longest and what compelled you to keep it all those years? The car that I've owned the longest is my 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang. I purchased it back in 1983 and plan on keeping it till I can't drive anymore. 33 years and counting! I love driving it and taking it to car shows. V8 and a 3 speed stick. What else do you need? It's easy to work on and you don't need too many specialized tools to keep it roadworthy. It drives great and is a blast along the shore! How long have you had your car?
A little over 10 years with our current Suzuki Grand Vitara. Almost 119,000 miles. Looking to get a Nissan Rogue late summer, early fall.
2000 Mercury Grand Marquis - 10 years. I know, I know...an old guys car. My friends gave me a hard time about it. It came with a gray wig and a free AARP membership. LOL
I have had my Harley for 23 years The longest I have owned any of my trucks/cars is 10. I have only owned 6 in my life. Two were new, one had 20k when I bought it. I drive about 5k to 6k a year. About the same on the bike.
I had a 94 Ford Explorer for about10 years, sold it to a nephew who had it another 5 or 6 years. I had a 03 Honda Odyssey for about 8 years and traded it to a niece with twins for a 2007 camry. A lot of my other vehicles were not worth keeping very long.
Well, did it have the 4.6 liter V8? It be an old man's car, but my 23 year old son craves that car. Like an undercover cop car.
My current car, a Saturn Ion is going on 11 years and 101,000 miles. Now that I have retired & put much less mileage on a car, I aim to keep it on the road as long as possible. I expect it to last for several more years.
I don't think I've kept a daily driver for more than maybe six or seven years but I do have a 1967 Buick Riviera that I've had maybe 25 years.
11 years- 1985 Nissan Sentra. It was a dealer loaner. The only nice thing I can say about it; it didn't leave me anywhere.
2005 Subaru legacy GT wagon, bought it new. Now 123k miles. Starting to get itchy, but will most likely keep it a bit longer
1997 Ford F-150 - purchased new in 1996 and donated to ARC in very used condition in 2015 - so 19 years.
12 years on a Dodge Dakota quad cab Sport 4x4. Nothing ever went wrong with it, no reason not to keep it. I finally traded it in this summer, mainly because I was tired of driving a clutch around the city.
