SOTD February 16, 2016 Noxema preshave cream Gillette Heavy Tech / Derby Extra Omega / Valobra Unscented WH / shea butter / Proraso Blue ASB Fine shave again this morning. Day 3 of my 1 week trial with Derby Extra and I am so pleased with the smoothness of this blade. It has retained a sharp edge, but it is not unpleasant. Lots of cutting power. I reopened one tiny weeper from the other day... but nothing major. Just a darn fine shave. After three shaves with the Derby Extra I am getting lots of positive vibrations from this blade. Not sure what all the fuss has been about. I know, I know...YMMV. I haven't used Valobra for a while and I was reminded that this is a very creamy, lovely soap with a rich tallow scent, slick lather and a nice cushion.
February 16 - Blade trials begin Prep: warm wash with Kirk's Lather: Leftovers Brush: RR Plissoft Razor: Blackbird Blade: Dorco ST300 (1) Post: Old Spice I'm shaving through my variety of blades to see what works best with this razor. Dorco ST300 provided a decent shave, but it was not smooth. I blame the blade. I will use it for several shaves to see if it smooths up a bit.
Tuesday Semogue BC Mistura Myrsol Emulsion PPC Mama Bears Lemon Ice PAA Dbl OC with UFO Godzilla handle/Feather (2)..........super smooth shave! Bloc Osma Can You Handlebar BDO Pe Re Ja......used as a ASL C&S No 88 Stay frosty,my friends!
A very nice, smooth, and comfortable shave with my Proraso Green soap which lathered with ease. I enjoyed the cooling sensation a lot although it's relatively mild compared to any of the Stirling mentholated soaps or some of my other face-freezers. The Lucky Tiger a/s cream along with the Proraso Green aftershave splash was a most satisfying finish!
SOTD February 16, 2016 Prep: Warm shower Blade: Personna lab blue (1) Razor: Maggard MR1 open comb Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic Lather: Ginger's Garden Salty Mariner shave soap Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm WTG, touch-up First use with the Maggard open comb razor today. I'll be using it to compare with the closed head. First impressions are favorable. It does seem a little more aggressive than the closed comb and I'll continue to evaluate the rest of this month. Only very light beard growth this morning since I shaved yesterday afternoon. The Satin Tip brush whipped up great lather from the Ginger's Garden Salty Mariner soap. The lather was nice and thick and the post-shave feel was really great. I'm impressed with Ginger's Garden so far! CCS today but my neck is recovering from some irritation yesterday. I had to go very light on the base of my neck in hopes of not irritating it further. Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!
Weber DLC razor Astra SP blade Dr. Selby 3X SC Plisson/L'Occitane brush Osage Rub/Witch Hazel w/aloe M&L Florida Water cologne w/added menthol Liked the Weber/Astra combo so much I used it again today. Wasn't disappointed either as another great shave was had. Love the scent of the Dr. Selby too and it works great as well. I am ready to go. Now go enjoy your day folks

I've been bowl lathering for the most part. Especially with the samples, I almost have too. But I did get a great face lather on Sunday using a Reef Point tub. I guess I've been using it for three weeks or so, and it's breaking in nicely. I'm still very new, so I don't have much to compare against - just a VDH boar that I don't care for.
Yeah! My VDH has been gathering dust for a while. I thought about PIFING' it but I like our members too much.

TUESDAY TwoFer Tuesday — These two W&B razors will be shipping out soon so before I pack them up, I wanted to take both for a test. I finished honing them yesterday, —each finished off on the SG20k—and wanted to see how different each one felt. Not disappointed, both shaved quite smoothly as I alternated between the two—and there were distinct differences. The larger 7/8 full-hollow was loud and 'delicate' feeling and the wedge felt solid and sliced through whiskers silently with ease. For detail shaving, I liked the square-pointed wedge; but each razor has it's own appealing characteristics. A very pleasant, smooth shave! Have a wonderful Tuesday, all!
