SuperSpeed for me. I had the Merkur, it was my first DE razor, I didn't really get good shaves from it.
I gave up cartridge razors in 2006.

Slim adjustable, Red Tip SS, and fat handle Tech.
I prefer the softer feel of the 610. I face lather exclusively.
Shave sticks. My favorite way to use shaving soap.
You may be best off with a two band. The Semogue SOC and Shavemac knots are really nice.
I have 4 Semogue boar brushes and I've never had problems getting 3 passes. Use more product, load longer.
My preference is Semogue. Nicer handles and a little softer once broken in.
Palmolive is hard to beat for the price.
I've been face lathering exclusively since 2011.
I had the same problem with a puck of C&E Morracan Myrrh. Gave up after a dozen tries and used it up in the shower.

I use an old vitamin bottle that has a flip top cap.
I second the Gillette New. Neither to aggressive or to mild.
Trumpers and Crabtree and Evelyn were terrible performers, wouldn't produce a stable lather at all. Cella, burned my face.
I have two Omega boars, 11137 and a 80005. They're both very nice brushes with ergonomic wooden handles.
