I love the old 1950's Sci-Fi movies. I'm old enough that I've seen most as 1st run movies but still like them and watch often. Some of my favorites are: Forbidden Planet, The Day the Earth Stood Still, The Thing, When Worlds Collide, War of the Worlds, Creature from the Black Lagoon and there are many more. Anyone else out there like these old movies? If so, which ones?
Trivia The original The Thing was based upon the short story: Who goes there? The monster was James Arness aka Marshall Dillion. Original billing was James Aurness.
some I like.. invasion of the body snatchers, the fly, attack of the 50 foot woman, and the twilight zone which premiered in october of 1959
I hadn't thought about these for a long time. As a kid growing up in the 60s, I watched all of these I could. I recall a hokey TV show on Saturday afternoons that showed old sci-fi and horror movies. The Day The Earth Stood Still stands out in my memory out of all of them. In the later 60s, there was Star Trek and Lost In Space that captivated me.
big time star trek fan here, James Tiberius Kirk was my hero. Danger Danger, had a huge crush on Penny Robinson too.
More trivia...sort of. My wife's father's second wife was the niece of Kevin McCarthy. I met him at their wedding.
