Speed ....................... ............................ Bump!
Sorry Y'all, I got jammed up the last couple weeks. I will for sure get it out this week. I just put the box in my car so I will remember to do it.
Just got a call back from @timabababaluka
He is headed back to school and is still in, but he requested to be bumped to the end. I will ship to @Enrico tomorrow.
Sounds good! I use to not like being in the head of the line, but now I find I really like it.
Tracking # 9405503699300494258559
I looked last night and it wasn't there ...... looked this morning ....... surprise surprise it's there.
I'll have to wait to see its almost 14 pounds of goodness till later.
Yeah, it is a heavy beast!
All I kept saying while unpacking it was "Wow" ..... Like a little piece of shaving heaven landed in my living .
I kept saying to my son "put that to the side".
There is a lot of very nice things in this box including parts that are very handy such as handles and top plates (which I was in need).
There was a casualty or two in the box ..... one brush failed to survive the trip (I'll repair/restore and repack it)
The other was a Gillette old type that the teeth got badly mangled ..... I have a couple old type heads I plan on sending to @PLANofMAN to twist, if it's ok I'll send it along to see if he can do anything with it (right now its awful).
Tomorrow I'll post initial adds and takes.
As long as there are no cracks, I should be able to straighten it out.
Edit: and I have Tom's @twhite newest straightening jig coming as well, so we can sort out any other issues it has.
BTW I forgot to mention there was an acrylic razor stand that broke in transit. I'll try to repair it ..... if the repair seems strong I'll send it on its way in the box.
As packed as the box is, I don't understand how things were damaged.
Don't feel like you did anything wrong ..... I've seen how USPS and FedEx handle boxes or packages ...... thrown like chunks of firewood.
The box has never had anything break in the past due to being stuffed beyond over capacity
.. nope nope nope
---- well there was that one time
.... oh and that other time as well.
My first shave from the box .........
From the box .....
Henri et Victoria Cognac and Cuban Cigars
Fine Superlite Slant razor
Floid aftershave Balm
Avon Wild Country Musk Cologne
I don't smell the cognac, but really enjoy the cigar scent ..... that's a keeper. I was worried the razor (being a slant) would be too aggressive for me, but was no trouble at all with an Astra blade. I really enjoy bakelite razors, so also a keeper. The Floid was had a wonderful scent and was soothing to the skin and was approved by SWMBO, so is also a keeper. The Avon WCM was approved by the wife, but me ..... meh not feeling the love; though is one I haven't seen before .... may be a pass on that.
I only shave every two or three days at most so had to very intentional with my choices.
You have keep some stuff my friend, because I need some room to put stuff in
I don't know if @timabababaluka is still in, he has not returned my call and has not signed in for a month or so.
I repaired the Razor rack and re-knotted and restored the brass egg brush.
It had a 15 mm boar knot that fell out and restored it to a 20mm synthetic ...... polished up real nice.
I’m setting up to ship the box tomorrow, just waiting for @MR41 to get back to me. After work I’ll post pics of my gives and takes.
You do nice work! I still have a couple of your re-knots.
