3 brushes in padauk

    here are the latest. the handles are padauk, turned on the south bend lathe I inherited from my grandfather. they are finished by impregnating with polyurethane by immersing in poly varnish first subject to vacuum for a couple of hours, then pressure overnight. over that will be probably three coats of the same poly, rubbed out between coats.

    the knot is black badger, 20mm x (according to the vendor 60mm) I measured about 57mm.

    Black badger is my beloved one
    Very nice handles,did you use shellac or some oil on them ?

    the finish is polyurethane resin. first i immersed the handle in it and pulled a vacuum for a few hours until no more bubbles were escaping from the wood. then i applied air pressure at about 10 psi overnight. after that had some time to dry i applied 3 more coats on the surface rubbing out between coats.

    I'd say it is adequately protected....

    Very nice.

    The barrel shaped one reminds me...I have one like that started from over a year ago, really need to finish it up.
