Hi everyone! Well, it is another month that has come and gone. Similarly, we can say the same about our beards when we shave, but the difference is that it comes back so that we have to shave again and again. Lol! Once again, we all have had good shaves and some learned a few things as well. All in all, it was a marvelous March of shaves! Monthly Themes 1. Adjustable April - It's self-explanatory. Use any adjustable(s) razors in your den. 2. Arko April - This is a nod to you Arko lovers. 3. Anything Goes April - It's the default selection for shaving. Use whatever you decide for your shaves. Ok, let's continue with the basic tenets of this thread! I want to welcome all the veterans of the 30 DC and all the newcomers. This thread is for the purposes of improving your shave technique so that you will consistently get great shaves. There are a number of ways to do it. These are suggestions so feel free to do whatever you want in regards to your shave. The 30 Day Rule Take ONE razor, ONE blade, ONE brush, ONE soap/cream and use them EVERYDAY this month. Yes, everyday. But Trigger, I want variety! I know you do, but until you perfect your technique, it makes little sense to constantly change the variables of your shave. The Focus For you out there that are not up to the rigors of the Rule, there is this alternative: Vary the gear for each shave, save for perhaps one or two elements. This is a more accessible challenge for the majority of shavers. I like to pick a particular aspect of the shave, be it the lather, a certain blade or a new razor, that needs breaking in, and not change it daily, until I have mastered those tools. Ok, to keep the thread on a nice even keel, I ask everyone to follow the thread etiquette as listed below: 1. New Members always welcome. Start anytime. 2. Old Members always welcome. 3. Respect everyone. 4. Refrain from political conversation. ** This includes, but is not limited to: Covid-19, treatments and/or advice.** Please keep these discussions off of this thread. I also want to suggest that we should try to assess our shaves as to why it was good or why it was not up to your standards and express these reasons in your comments. The spirit of this thread is to improve our shaves and if we share the reasons why a shave was good or bad, then we are giving our experiences to encourage good technique and discourage bad technique so that we have great info to get better shaves. I am not suggesting that we do it for every post, but I think it would make for a healthier thread if we start to do it more than we have in the past years. Moreover, you don't have to do a rule or a focus. You are free to change your setup on a shave to shave basis. Finally, I want this thread to continue to be a friendly place. It is ok to disagree because that is how we learn from each other, but let's encourage and respect every member. Yes, even if you think they are off the wall. Let's face it! We all are a little off because of our different Aquisition Disorders. Lol! Let's have a group hug! Also, let's have a great April of awesome shaves and fine fellowship! Sincerely, Joe (Trigger)
An outstanding introduction to another shaving month Joe...It's hard to believe that we are into April already. The "Anything goes April", in my case "Anything goes all year round" is a perfect description of my eclectic shave set ups. Enjoy the start of the month.

A superb non-aggressive combination smooth efficient shaver which is a pleasure to use. The Nivea Men Originals shave cream never fails to provide me with a super protective slick lather leaving a good post shave feel. Finishing the shave off a with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB. My face & precious swede are feeling smooth & smelling divine. Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.
01 April 2025 All-blades focus for April The plan is to mostly stick to closed DE razors for this month and try out all the different blades I have in stock. I plan to use each blade for one day only and see if I can spot the difference 2 Days growth Hot Water Prep and Preshave = Palmolive shave cream Cream/Soap = TOBS Oud Brush = Razorock Plissoft black handle Bowl = white plastic Razor = Muhle Rocca 96 Blade = Gillette 7 o’clock black (1 and done). Super Platinum Premium Salon box: made and packaged in India Passes = 2 + Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s rose petal, PR barbe dure ASL = PR Barbe Dure with Oud Scent = Arabian sunset Oud Love the Oud. My wife is not too fond of it though: I might have to tone this down a bit Lol! The Rocca has a nice wide gap allowing for easy rinsing Initial lather was a bit thicker than normal however... On the second pass I made this a lot thinner, and since the channels were not clogging up as much, the blade really started to sing No blood but very hot alum on the right side of the face, which is where I usually start my shaves. Either too much pressure to start with or the blade is not as smooth as they say Have a great 1st of April everyone
Thank you Chris...The Indian Super Platinum are excellent blades. I have a fondness for subcontinent DE blades.
thanks Barry, I do remember you mentioning that I have a variety of others that I am keen to get into in April!
Sounds like a good plan, and great way to get through the variety. The Super Platinum are a great start.
-Tuesday- n0.15 yaqi london gin club good morning gents fine Aristocrat April shave fantastic a & e lather built with the yaqi ruby badger smooth 2 passer with the 1939 OC Aristocrat. n-s,s-n,minor pickups. matching splash to finish awesome have a fine day everyone
Great opener for April. The Ukraine-made soap is getting down to its end. Don't think I'll re-order though, but it's done me well. A minute at the Loading Dock. Clean and clear all over. No cuts, Knicks, polka-dots. 2 healthy passes. Goood finish with the San Juan Hill A.S. It's a nice aftershave, but two days in a row is good enough(I wouldn't list tobacco among my favorite scents, sorry @wristwatchb ). As Outstanding As It Gets. Repeat expected tomorrow.
Thank you Gary. I thought I might do another Agadir April(like last year), but too late. Too hot to do Agadir August. I see you have a lot of A's for this month. Same for August??
