    SRS # 1048 - March Mug Madness - Ach. Brito Mogno

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Taylor Eyewitness 1000
    Brush: Shore Shave Blue Nebula w/ Paragon 25 mm Boar
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Ach. Brito Mogno
    Aftershave: Obsession A/S Balm
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel

    I plan on incorporating about 20 shaves in the March Mug Madness theme. I have 7 mugs which I plan on giving some love this month.

    I decided to start of the month with the Ach. Brito Mogno soap. The Shore Shave boar was load from the mug with about a 25 second load. We don’t have a loading dock here in this den. ;). The vrysh completed the job of whipping up the soap
    Into a nice lather in my

    Hi All

    Hope you are all doing well, and I have been popping in to look at all the wonderful shaves.

    Still traveling. In Vegas until next Thursday, and then one more work trip. I’m going to finish up March by being around more, and have been accumulating a few things to do a “Menthol March” when I get home.

    For now, back at yet another hotel, but upgraded the travel kit somewhat. Since TSA let my $3 razor through a few times, I took a chance with one of my better mild razors.

    [IMG]

    So….

    Henson Mild loaded up with Feather blades
    Arko in a twist up travel stick
    My ancient Semogue brush
    Homemade bootleggers blend lime Bay Rum in a TSA bottle
    50/50 mix of grapefruit witch hazel and Lucky Tiger AS in the other.

    Getting probably the best travel shaves I’ve ever had with this lineup.

    Thanks care guys. Will be back more regularly soon….

    Days growth = 1

    Prep = 3 x cold water soak
    Preshave = TOBS Jermyn street massage
    Soap = Cella
    Brush = Omega Pura Setola
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette TV Special 1958 date code D3, day 3
    Blade = Permasharp (1)
    Passes = 2, that’s all folks
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, CWR, Thayers
    ASL = Cella, very mild, too mild for me
    Scent = none today
    Damage = none

    Super smooth start to March!
    Effortless 2 passer
    Felt a minor scratch left side of the cheek on the first pass, telling me to ease off: no damage resulted

    Today the ’58 TV special felt much better with the Permasharp. Much smoother. Much more like a Gillette should feel. This tells me they tuned their razor design to the blades they were promoting.

    Up to now I was using the Kai

    Appropriate pressure applicable in the appropriate areas with no hesitation. WTG and XTG, some ATG upper and lower lip, Zone 8 etc

    3 successive days of Kai shaves and my face needed a rest, hence the Permasharp rather than a no shave day
    I will keep Kai’s in the back pocket for another day

    super start to March!

    Face prep = cold water splash
    Preshave = Perth Soap Works hair conditioner
    Soap = Sterling Baker Street Bar Shampoo, face lathering
    Brush = Omega bristle 10049
    Razor = Gillette TV special
    Blade = Permasharp (2)
    Passes = 2 + (WTG, XTB, but S-N to the neck with ATG as needed)
    Post = Usual
    ASL = Cella after shave to one side of the face only to see how the face feels at the end of the day

    Very acceptable shave. No damage. Razor and blade performed superbly

    I have been using this Sterling Shampoo Bar in the shower for a while and liked the way it lathered, so decided to shave with it

    Points to note:
    1. The Sterling Shampoo Bar works OK as a shaving soap, but thins out towards the end of the shave
    2. It leaves the face a little dry, unlike their Shaving Soaps and other soaps eg MWF
    3. No scum or residue in the basin!!!!! Nothing to clean. The brush rinsed out really easily
    I am no chemist or soap aficionado but this means the constituents of the Shampoo Bar and Shaving Soap are different

    One could do the opposite and use the Shaving Soap in the shower, but at the risk of accumulating residue in the shower

    ‘nother thing learnt. Cool

    (Each day lived without a lesson learnt is a day wasted)

    Great weekend to you all gents

    Great travel shave set up Scott..It might be a ancient brush, but the Semogue 1305 is a great performer once it's broken in like most boar brushes. Take care. Yours-Barry. :happy088:

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave)

    A new shave set up to start the weekend. First face & head shave of March 2024.

    It's been a while since I last used The Indian Pearl SBF 11 razor to my razor rotation and forgot how smooth and efficient this razor is.

    The Pearl SBF 11 paired together with the Treet Dura Sharp excellent making a smooth sharp, & efficient duo.

    The Pearlman Shaver's spirit soap is a good shaving soap... It's very slick, protective with a fresh mild masculine fragrance which lingers throughout the shave and beyond creating a wonderful lather in a short space of time leaving a excellent post shave feel.

    A close comfortable face and head shave with no errors to report.

    Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Fresh Moisturising Gel.

    My face & precious swede are both feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

    Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.:cool:

    Paul Turner outside the quote(s) now

    Well, shux...this shave deserved a "mediocre" not an "outstanding". But just HOW mediocre? Well, let's have a look: Nice work along the cheeks&sideburns. Porcupine suffered the worst-a Knick at North, 2 Knicks and a scary cut that was neutralized at South. Cactus turned out all right. 2 passes. Good finish from the Agadir A.S. Went a little too hard at Porcupine. I should have used more soap. Most Mediocre. I hope to do better tomorrow, as I bring out an old friend for the aftershave.

    DE Shave # 520 - March Mug Madness - Williams Mug Soap

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Muhle R41
    Blade: Shark Platinum
    Brush: CRD Patriotic Swirl 26 mm Synthetic
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: Williams Mug Soap
    Aftershave: Halston Z - 14
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Declaration Grooming Darkfall EdT
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Halston Z - 14 Cologne

    Excellent R41 shave this morning as I prepare to take Anthony and his cousin for another day of skiing. It is going to be a wet experience for the boys. Oh well, I will just hang out I. The lodge.

    I have modified my approach with the William soap to enhance its performance. Following g loading the brush in the mug, I add 6 drop of glycerin to the lather bowl to assist in the whipping up of the lather. The end result is a nice, thick and slick lather for my three passes.

    Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.
