I thought someone might get a kick out of this 1906 English ad I ran across And just to tease those of you having trouble with these things, I read another ad which stated: No beard is too tough, no face too tender, no man too clumsy to enjoy perfect satisfaction with the Gem Safety Razor You can shave in the dark, it is so easy. The virtue is all in the blade
Alright one more. In 1906, BBS stood for "Babe's Butt Smooth" I can't help but wonder if that particular phrasing would not sell even better today
"20-40 perfect velvet shaves" per blade! We certainly have taken a step backwards in blade technology in 103 years.
I would guess those claws are there to help straighten curly and wiry beard hair so it is more easily cut by the passing blade
