Ok, so I am looking at my late 40's model super speed and I don't see the notched bar that I am supposed to see, most likely because I have no idea where to look. So here are my two questions: Where do I look on my late 40's model super speed for the notched bar? Why did Gillette not put date codes on super speeds?
Where do I look for the notched bar? Forget about the second question. I appologise I must have forgotten about asking that one before. Where is the notched bar?
I don't know why you are double posting your question when no one has even answered it the first time. As for your answer, refer to this thread.. I believe it should answer things. http://www.theshaveden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2544
OK, OK, gosh a live one aren't we? Bronco has a nice picture of one that IS NOT NOTCHED. Notice anything different?
Notched or not notched bar, the bar is the center piece of metal that holds the blade. And please give people time to answer before getting bent out of shape.
If this is true, then how do I use the quick loading of the blades that Gillette advertises? I thought that the quick load depended on the notched bar, and it seems that the super speeds do not have notched bars.
I may be going at this the wrong way but why does it matter? The quick load is only a minor feature at best and if you are careful it takes only like.. .5 seconds longer to grab the blade with your finger and put it on the razor. Besides the quick load would not work with most razor blades since they do not come in a package like the Gillette Blades anyway. Forget about the notch, it really isn't important IMO.
Super Speeds are different from year to year. Some Super Speeds have notched bars, some don't. Some Super Speeds have date codes, some don't. And not all Gillette razors are Super Speeds. Let's put it this way. All Mustangs are Fords, but not all Fords are Mustangs. And Mustangs had design differences from year to year. Just like razors.
