Sweet. I wouldn’t call myself a junkie, like I’m not a “Trekkie” but more,,, an appreciator. I have only a half dozen or so, but many more have come and gone over the years. Each time I use a Tech I marvel at the high quality shave. One could argue, but now now that Gillette *might* have perfected the safety razor when they introduced the Tech. They are that good. Perfect example of mid-century American manufacturing. Like Chevys, Telecasters and D-18s. I use this one a lot. It was a beat up, rusted, sorry-ass piece of brass when it arrived. I bought a lot of three NDC Techs for $8. Two went to Chris Evatt for replating (I’ve no affiliation other than being a long-time, satisfied customer). The original handle is in perfect replated condition, but I prefer this slightly larger reproduction handle from razor emporium. Better grip and balance. That’s why I said *might* above. Sorry to babble. Here’s the pic.
that is a fine piece Charlie.i have the same RE handle i use with my old types and nickel News.i collected a bunch of techs from around the world as they were cheap and no one was really interested.i have some rare ones, including a Canadian "flat bottom " similar to the brit ones.they are all great shavers imo..babbling on encouraged..
My friend enjoys yard and estate sales. She used to send me photos of razors to see if anything caught my eye. This NEW was in monstrously awful condition, but the teeth near perfect! A great replate and repro handle. It’s killer on 3+ days of whiskers! This particular handle has some highly tactile knurling. When I come across the bits of the original handle that remain, I will snap a picture.
thats a cool contract tech. here are some of my techs in a thread Ryan started for me some years back. https://theshaveden.com/forums/thre...mprehensive-guide-to-the-gillette-tech.60189/
