Found this auction on the bay ending soon. All 1966 which the guy claimed was his birth year and was thinning his collection. I bid $35 and won, the only bidder to my shigrin. Think I did ok
...or a lady Gillette. Speaking of which, my girlfriend is using my Lady Gillette for the first time as we speak. She told me she was going to commit to using it for a month before she decided if she was going to completely switch to wet shaving. She's already switched to a brush and shaving cream...and got her sister to switch as well. She's been eying my razor and brush collection with a slightly calculating look lately...I think my Blackbirds are still safe for now. Good haul there @Old School. Really good haul.
Definitely a nice haul! Wish I could find these kinds of auctions on there! Any tips on search words you used since this one seems to have flown under the radar if you were the only bidder and it had both a slim and the lady Gillette which would more than make up the purchase price?
http://m.ebay.com/itm/181996822836 If the seller had substituted the word 'lot' for 'collection,' he almost certainly would have doubled his money at the very least. Edit: Even using the second picture with the adjustable and two TTO's front and center as the primary picture would have been a better choice. Instead, the primary picture features a travel tech as the first razor the eyes see; the most common and worthless Gillette on eBay.
Alright, I'll share my secret search words for this auction..."Gillette safety razor". Then I sort by ending soonest to see if I can swoop anything up. Not kidding, it was a 5 day auction titled "1966 Gillette razor collection" with a starting bid requirement of $35 with moments left and no bidders. I just don't get it. My only other huge success was my like new Fatboy Executive (gold) for $40 if i recall. It was listed as "vintage gold tone razor".
Agreed, but I'm still shocked it slipped through everyone's radar. I'll likely package up the travel tech and a lady gillette on the bay to get my $35 back .
Sweet! And use that Lady Star yourself. "Lady" is only a word, your face won't know anything but a great shave!!
