My mother-in-law-to-be found a strop at an antique store and bought it for me. I don't really have much intention on using it as if I take the leap into straight razors I would probably purchase something in known working order. Right now it is just bathroom decor. I was wondering if I would be able to apply shea butter, or some other type of moisturizer to it to help it against futher decay. I was surprised to see it was in such good condition. There are a few knicks and the leather is dry but in seemingly good condition otherwise. At least as far as other antique store strops I have seen.

Neats Foot Oil - good stuff; use lightly.

Hey Nick, if you can try and find some neatsfoot oil that has not been filtered much. The older version of NF has good tallow in it that will really make that strop come alive again.
I live in Hudson so we are neighbors. Nice to meet you, I have many SR friends in the cities.

Excellent! Thank you both. I'll be on the lookout for some.
