Maybe I've posted on this before. I know I mention it during my shave reports but here's a quick recipe that you may find useful. *your choice of witch hazel *1 small styptic, ground into the finest powder *1 tsp of menthol crystals {or liquid premix} dissolved in the smallest possible quantity of alcohol Dump 2 and 3 into your witch hazel. Shake thoroughly before each application as the alum will settle out. I use this after every shave now because it's so refreshing, even if there's no burn or nicks, which it definitely helps with. If there is irritation, applying this mix and then following up (when dry) with Lucky Tiger lotion works wonders, you'll see!
Probably wouldn't make a difference, but alum powder might be a better choice (or easier) than grinding up a styptic pencil. Styptic pencils are just powdered alum mixed with wax. Look for alum in the spice aisle, or behind those old bottles of nutmeg and turmeric in your spice cabinet.
